If you decide to put something in your mouth that you just can't resist that isn't really good for you....say a nice piece of chocolate, a french fry, chips, the cookie your kid didn't finish, a hunk of that pie or cake that is sitting on your husband's plate being ignored....and if....when it is in your mouth it isn't every bit as wonderful as you thought it would be.....
THEN TAKE A NAPKIN AND DISCRETELY SPIT IT OUT!!!!!!

Trust me you will find a time when you will want to do this, because the minute it is in your mouth you will be thinking, "why did I put this in my mouth?" because it will not taste as good as you thought it would. So then, for Pete's sake....Ok....for your own sake.....don't swallow it! The descrete thing with the napkin can be pulled off very gracefully even in company or a restaurant....trust me on this one....most people wouldn't even notice, but think you were wiping your mouth. Cloth dinner napkins? Cover your mouth, mumble, "excuse me" and retreat to the rest room.

This is a valuable step in being able to think about what you really want to put in your mouth and into your body, and make better decisions in the future. HOWEVER......never, never, never resort to trying to make yourself throw up. This can cause horrific health problems and if repeated habitually can cause death.

The thing is that you will little by little lose interest in the foods that once held power over you. After months of healthy eating they will literally not taste as good as they used to.

I have had a very very rough week as far as dieting goes, but having reached a moment when I actually realized I didn't want a previously craved treat was a very nice, very welcome victory. I will take all the small victories i can get these days.....and perhaps added together i will win the war against my fat.
