Interestingly, the whole bloat thing is greatly affected by dehydration. More than anything else, keep drinking water...carry a water bottle or 2 with you and just sip a little all the time. And really watch the salt. Unfortunately a lot of the ethnic foods you enjoy are usually loaded with salt so you may want to do more of the fresh veggies and fruit and skip the prepared stuff on the really hot days and during PMS. Also there is are a lot of studies that report better metabolisim and wieghtloss with many small meals. This helps the whole tummy thing. Try carrying with you small but nutritious snacks, such as 1/4 cup nuts (raw or dry-roasted...no salt), veggie sticks, low-cal yogurts, lite string cheese, etc.

The funny thing about consuming warm liquids on hot days is that it actually cools you down! Same thing with a tepid shower instead of a cold one.

I think tofu is a fine substitute, but so are beans or even fish.
