A Two of a Kind Love: Stays very much in the Buffyverse with good charavterazation. As for original, no.
I could not get into this because it was a replica of a season, but that is a personal thing. The Buffy
Willow relationship was well played, but I think they should have taken more time setting up before the
blurting of 'I love you'. Found no mistakes, and it flowed well. I would recomend this to anyonewho wanted
to see willow and Buffy together.

Overall score: Average / 79 (my reasons for a low score are simple. I had to force myself to read it. The
others, even if I don't agree with them, were entertaining enough to keep me mildly interested. This one did not.)
Sorry.

I was looking forward to this story, but unfortunately found it very hard to get into reading. It was a struggle to finish, and I think that was because an originally creative idea did not play out that well in practice.

I found the start of the story intriguing, when I realized the story device the author was using. *Let’s use established dialogue / plot to tell a story in a new and very different way.* Wow, I thought. Neat. However, I don’t know whether it was the story’s length, or the long sections that were essentially the same as the series, or the fact I was watching those same events unfold in repeats on the Space channel, but I found it too repetitive and redundant, and found myself wanting to skip long sections [which I didn’t in deference to the writer’s effort]. More original side issues could have leant a unique spark to this story.

In slasher fic, except in rare instances, the very premise of the story strays from the canon, at least, in the characterization and relationships. That’s okay, as long as I can see a reasonable path to the place that the author takes them, I am willing to go along for the ride. I did not find this true in this story. For those that know me from BC&S, I find redemption and forgiveness powerful themes [what can I say? I used to read “The Lives of Saints and Martyrs” when I was a girl.] Faith arrives “bad” in this story and does not show the struggle of light and dark that also had an impact on Buffy, a significant shift; and for me, there was no backstory to contextualize this. As well, I find the shift from Buffy conceptualizing herself as heterosexual / just in love with Angel to being in love with Willow, rather abrupt. I would have like to see more of a transition. Willow’s journey of discovery was much more believable to me. Their relationship and their change in orientation becomes more realistic towards the middle of the story. I liked the sweetness of their relationship, and the hint of passion.

I liked the balance of reactions, with both support [Oz, Joyce, Giles, Xander- though I don’t think he would have persisted so much in the “lesbian sex” joking. He has too much respect for B/W for that.] and hostility with eventual reconciliation [Willow’s parents].

It was crafted well, with few grammatical or spelling errors.

However, I cannot recommend this, and I feel bad about that, since the author’s effort was very clearly evident. I would like to hear more of its strengths from those who liked it, and am willing to revise my rating.
