This one is probably the hardest to grade, as neither Dawn or Ethan Rayne have had a lot of screen time in terms of character development. Dawn has been perceived as whiny and Ethan seems to be an ambivilent individual.

Sarah T has done a good job developing these two characters into believeable individuals. I rate it 7 out of 10.

Anywhere But Here: Stays in the Buffyverse. Clear characterazation. Original, yes. I dunno if I buy what
The author is selling. A few points felt... wrong. But its just me feeling, nothing I could find in the
story was incorect. Found no mistakes. Moved smoothly, if not quickly. Not confusing, and if anyone wanted
to read a story with Ethan, I would recomend it.

Overall score: Very good / 89

I recommendeded this story to the non ship group, so obviously I like it a lot. It's good to see an occasional guest star, and a slightly two dimensional regular character drawn out more.I enjoyed the Giles & Dawn interactions and the G/E subtext at the end,and I liked that it was not tied up too neatly, that there were consequences and Dawn had to deal with that.
I give it an 89 also.

I did like this story! Very original idea! There's someting here in that weird relationship teacher/apprentice that reminds me the novel "Empire of the Sun" written by J.G Ballard. For me it works very well. This little escapade reveals a lot about the three characters.

Besides the fiction is well written...and the character of Ethan Rayne rings so true! Great dialogues, with some priceless Ethan's quotes:

"No," he said, smiling again. "I'm not a demon. I'm something much more exciting. Ethan Rayne."

or

"Well, he was rather large and muscular. Intervening might've gotten my hair mussed."

The author did a great job. I highly recommend this short fanfic!Read it!

I thought this was well written, but a bit boring for my tastes. The characterization was good but I just ddin't feel much as I read the story.

I give it a 80

Overall, I found this to be a solid story, but not particularly special. It had an interesting premise and attempted to extend the canon of the Buffyverse regarding Ethan Rayne and Giles’ past relationship with him. It also tried to address the lack of any real knowledge about Dawn’s status vis--vis being the Key.

But I did not find it believable at all that Dawn would run off with some strange older man after her encounter with Glory. I think she’d have more sense than that. So this stretched my credibility quite a bit.

Ethan was in character, but I found Dawn’s characterization quite bratty. I may be one of the few who thinks she had good reason to whine in S6, but this rendition of her made her surly and unpleasant. There was also a slight sexual undercurrent I found "icky".

Technically it was well written and the plot did flow well. However, I was unclear if it was Park who was following them or someone else. I would have liked a bit more detail about this. I would recommend this to someone who wanted to know more about the Ethan character, but with a caveat.

Overall rating: 70

I thought this was an excellent story. The character of Ethan Rayne was absolutely perfect, and the interaction between he and Dawn very believable. I liked the twist at the end where Dawn observes that Giles still cares for Ethan. The only tough part for me was the portrayal of Giles in the beginning of the story. I simply can't picture him being that cold and detached.

this story was ok, i liked seeing ethan, as i have rarely seen him in fics ever. there is some good lines, cute and true dialoug, but it was a bit dragging. sorry, i did read it a little while ago so it is not 100% fresh in my mind but it was basicly just ok, i wouldn't particularly reccomend it but i wouldn't say "don't read it" either. eh.
