Disclaimer: I like to imagine that all these fabulous characters belong to me, but none of them do.
Rating: PG maybe PG/13 at later parts
Spoilers: None really come to mind.
This is my first fanfic. I should let everyone know that I am Canadian and later in the story my limited understanding of the role of American women in the military becomes apparent... meaning I let Mac do things that she would be allowed to do if she lived North of the 49th or through artistic licence:)
I really enjoyed writing it, and I hope that everyone likes reading it. Comments or constructive criticism welcome....
0147 EDT
JAG Headquarters, Falls Church, Virginia
In the darkness of the practically empty office building sat one lone person. Completely surrounded by darkness and spotlighted by a solitary desk lamp, the officer sat at the JAG office standard desk thoughtfully composing a letter.
A normally eloquent and fast writer, words slowly stumbled out of the blue ball point pen held by its owner. "Where do I even begin?" The quiet whisper seemed harsh in the silence of the night. "What do you say when there's nothing to say, or when there's everything to say?"
And yet, the letter began, hesitantly at first:
Hey. I bet this isn't quite the way you were probably expecting to begin your morning. Sorry, I'll make it up to you some how. About an hour and a half ago...
Finally finished, the pen capped, each word read over 5 times, a signature with a noticeable tremor written, the letter was carefully folded. Before slipping the letter into its envelope, the author readjusted the folds to leave showing the header of the simple white stationary: Lieutenant Colonel Sarah MacKenzie, USMC, LLB, BA.
In plain sight, in the dead centre of a clean desk sat an envelope, waiting to opened and read. It simply read: Harm.
