OOC: Eep, I don't know much at all about the Cheysuli! But...I'll do my best. *grins*

Michael blinked to clear his head; the elf's incessant flow of chatter might have been annoying if her voice wasn't so pleasant. She was earnest and sincere, he had to admit, honestly curious about the ways of his people. So as he reined the bay mare to a halt and dropped lightly to the leaves beside the previously abandoned supplies, he paused.

"My people are as old as the mountains themselves," he said slowly, and great pride resonated in his voice. "We are close to the Creation, each warrior bonding with a creature that was chosen for us before time began. Evan is my companion and my brother...but he is also part of me, and I of him. If one of us were to die, the other one would soon follow, for to Cheysuli the lir-bond is life."

His face darkened as he lifted the supplies to the mare's back. "That is why we must help the boy---the one up the pass right now. His mind is closed, and he will not accept his liren. He does not know that she is anything more than a pet. So she is dying...and so is he, though he is not aware of it yet. They will both be destroyed if change does not come quickly. We are taking him over the pass to the wild lands of the East, in hopes that there his mind will be freed from the boundaries that society here has placed there."
