She turned to Gabriel. "Warrior, I find you a very strange creature," she said, creeping closer to him. Never removing her eyes from him she crouched directly beside him and leaned in close, sniffing curiously and studying his face. Alarm mixed with amazement flooded his face, and Kalea couldn't help but laugh. She rocked back on her heels, golden fur glinting in the firelight, and looked in delight from Nashota back to the warrior. "But I like you!" she cried. "Gabriel, I would gladly follow you and help you if I can. By Tribal standards I am still a child; you honor me with your trust. But because I'm still a child..." She sighed. "I still haveta listen to my parents. And if Nashy says I can't do something, I'm bound to obey her. But as much as I can I will help. Perhaps your brothers will like me better 'cause I'm a kid, too... Are they scared of Jellicles?"
