The clan leader smiled a secret smile as he took up the silver awl. After tonight the boy would be a boy no more, but rather a cheysuli warrior accepted by a clan.

The clan leader set the sharp point to Michael's ear and carefully slid it through the tender lobe. With care not to hurt Michael he slid the awl out and set the eagle shaped earring in. The gold glinted slightly against the darkness of Michael's black hair.

Next he slid the two heavy arm bands into place above the young warrior's elbows and snugged them into place. Never again would anouther of the Cheysuli see a boy before them. "Michael, you are welcome to my clan and my kin."

"And you Evan are as fine a lir as I have ever met. Welcome."

The hawk fluffed himself ever so slightly. ::Yes, welcome both of you.::

"Go now." the clan leader ordered. "Your own kin has need of you. You will find all that you have requested at the north end of my keep. Safe journay Michael."

::Watch over you kin young warrior. And watch over those who you follow. You will find that both groups will need each other if they are to finish this journay.::
