 Kalea's face lit up like a beacon. "Oh, yes--let's go!" She bounced happily in the saddle, taking up the reins again, and leaned forward to brush Dante with her long whiskers. ::We're goin' close to the mountains, Dante! Jus' think--we might see the Guardian! 'Ave you ever heard of him?::

She looked off into the trees, guiding the horse to follow Gabriel through the open woods, and spoke to Dante and Khanada (allowing Nashota and Gabriel to listen, if they wished).

::They tell s'many stories 'bout him back in my tribe... They say he's like a bird, but human...or like a human, only a bird. He's the oldest creature this side o' th' mountains, and the smartest. He knows ever'thing that passes through the hills an' lotsa times he guards them from bad people who'd try to get at the other side. No one's seen 'im in a real long time, but I bet he's still there. Do you think so?::
