Alexis sat in the cool grass and breathed deeply. Somewhere far distant from where she was Monet had found himself inprisoned. As so she was also trapped, but for the moment there was peace. She had no way of knowing that in a far distant mountain keep Cassiel had placed herself between Azrael and Monet. She knew only that the blazing agony that had been alive within her link to Monet had quieted to a dull ache.
Yet she sensed him still caught. Still trapped. Still very much in danger. Which ment that she was still a danger to those she loved or cared for. She could not go back.
Distantly Negasi pulled himself and the boy upon his back to a halt. His keen eyes could just make out the girl sitting under a tree. "She is ahead. Just there." he said quietly to Jeff. "She is not yet aware of our presence. But I think I must warn you young master that Neva said Alexis did not wish to harm us and that is why she is forcing herself to stay away. Do you still wish to go to her?"
Negasi thought he already knew the answer, but he felt it his duty to ask it of the boy all the same. As Jeff nodded and muttered something about not going back without Alexis, Negasi began to slowly make his way closer to the girl. He did not wish to alarm her, but trusted his silent footfall to get Jeff close enough to Alexis before she became aware of his appearance.

Gabriel patted Khanada gently on the head and allowed himself a warm smile. ::You be brave young wolf. And tell my rujho that I will see him soon.::
Rio touched her nose breifly to Khanada's, ::Worry not little sister. Gwen and I will return Gabriel to you and your boy, and we will bring Jeff and Michael as well. And soon Dante and you will meet Raz and Cass. I promise, your boy will love Cassiel.::
Gabe clasp Sema's arm just above the elbow and smiled warmly into his face, "Safe journay my friends. May you fly safely away from danger." Then he turned and melted into the form of a huge wolf. With one last look from his yellow eyes he turned and ran down the mountain path. Rio and Gwen flanking him easily.
They ran in silence for most of and hour. Gabriel leading, his mind intent upon the flicker that was Jeff's mind. His now wolf senses trying to catch a wiff of their scent.
::'Riel?::
He flicked a glance to Rio and shook his head as he ran. ::They do not have a great lead on us. They had only just left the mountains behind, but they are to the south of where we came out.::
Rio glanced to Gwen as they ran. Unspoken, but clear to them both was the need to keep Gabriel from pushing to hard. Yet they both knew, he was a warrior. He would not stop until he had what he was after.
Two more hours and Rio scented them. Her nose flared, ::Do you smell it?::
Gwen nodded, ::Yes, that is my boy. And a male Paw.::
Gabriel pulled to a stop and glanced around. ::It is also Alexis. And she has the clear smell of fear and...::
::Don't Gabriel. She is strong. Stronger than you think. She will fight to the end before she will hurt Jeff. You know that.:: And yet Rio charged on. She knew if Michael had indeed left Jeff to deal with Alexis then they had only a short time before Alexis and Jeff would come face to face. She only prayed she was right in her thoughts of Alexis. Alexis would NOT hurt Jeff.

Alexis looked up tiredly as Jeff showed himself. "You shouldn't have come. I am most likely the thing you fear the most. A crazy Cheysuli intent only on hurting someone." Her blue eyes shone with ill humour. "I tell you this though, if that is true and I am a crazy Cheysuli only intent on hurting someone... I should at least have the choice of who I hurt. I should not be TOLD what I will or will not do."
