Once he was quite sure that Cassiel was comfortably asleep he called to Raziel, ::Come to me my sister. For I have yet anouther surprise for you. And bring your new pet. Perhaps she would like to witness this as well.::
Raz wiped her tear streaked face against the kittens soft fur and whimpered yet again. She didn't want to go up and face Azrael. She didn't want to leave Cass alone. Yet to defy Azrael could mean even more trouble, so she set the Paw kit down and looked at it. "You need a name. I'm sure you have one, but I don't know what it is yet. Anyway," she wiped her dirty sleeve across her face in an effort to wipe away her sadness. "My brother wants me to go up stairs, and he says you should come as well. Will you come with me?"
The red kitten nodded and padded up to stand next to the girl. She knew the girl was scared and alone much like herself, and she liked the color of the girls hair. And so the two made their way to the great room. Where they both stopped at the door with open looks of amazement on their faces.
Inside the great hall, chained to the far corner by two heavy chains, screamed a large tiger in both pain and rage. Dancing just out of reach of the tiger's huge paws was Damian. The black mountain lion would dash in and strike the tiger and then dance away screaming and hissing.
Inside her head was noise like none she had heard before as both the tiger and Damian screamed inside the lir link. She tried desprately to hide her sudden concern for the tiger as she quickly came realized who he belonged to. The pale girl from the mountain flashed before her eyes and she closed them and willed the image away.
"Come child. Come and meet one of my greatest treasures." he called to her. "Don't be frightened Raziel. He's chained and cannot hurt you."
Stiffly she moved forward into the room. Her eyes locked on the tiger. ::I'm so sorry.:: she sent fleetingly, hoping none but the tiger would hear.
Monet stopped fighting Damian long enough to look at the small female child. She looked like a small female version of Jeff, and suddenly it all made sense. Gabriel's sisters were not dead, merely sprited away and made to look as if dead.
Damian hit Monet full on in the face causing him to tumble to one side. Blood ran from the new wound and he roared loudly into the others face. ::I dare you to be so brave once I am no longer wearing these chains!::
Damian snarled in return, ::You'll never be free of those chains. You and your girl have met the end of your days.::
"Azrael," Raz said softly. "Please. I don't wanna see this."
He looked to her then, and for a moment he was reminded of how much he had loved her once. Once, when she had been small and trusting. Now she stood before him, timid and shy. "Alright Raz. If that is your wish."
::Damian, leave him be for the moment.::
The mountain lion moved away and flopped down near the firecairn. His eyes locked themselves onto Raziel. She trembled suddenly as if from a chill and Azrael was quick to grab up a pelt and wrap it around her shoulders. "There is quite a chill in the air today. You should keep yourself warm."
Raz nodded numbly as she and the Paw kit moved further into the room. "What is your other surprise? Is it the tiger?"
Azrael shook he head and grinned, quite pleased with himself. "No dearest sister. Though I must admit that he makes me quite happy. No, this is my other surprise." He moved to the wall behind him and pressed on one of the bricks. Slowly a small door opened and two full grown male Paws came slinking out of the hidden chamber.
Raziel felt her eyes go wide and the Paw kit squeezed in close to her side and whimpered quietly. The larger of the two was the color of dried blood with black points. Judging from the size of the Paws she had seen with Jeff she knew that this one was very large even for a Paw. His chest was broad and muscular as he slunk ever closer to Raz and she took one step back away from him.
At first the other looked to be solid black. She quickly came to realize that he had once been a very dark blue, but now his coat was dirty and matted. He was almost as tall as the red one, yet he was lanky and under weight. And both had a crazed look about them as they focased their eyes on her.
"Az?" she stammered quietly. "Is this safe?"
The two males circled closer and closer to Raz and her Paw kit. Their steps were in tandem with each other. Something close to mania ingulfed them, and she could make out the fact that they were speaking, but she didn't understand the words. Beside her the kit started hissing and growling in the strange language, and Raz felt true fear scream up her spine.
Azrael spoke but one word and both Paws circled back to him and flopped down. Yet their eyes still held the small Paw in their sights and they continued to chat amongst themselves in low angry tones.
"Not to worry Raziel. These two have a job to do. They have been expertly trained to do it." He smiled a cold smile that caused fear to race over her once again. "They got a little worked up because they thought at first that YOU were their mark. You see, they are going on a hunt for a Silent Paw who travels in the company of a young girl. And once they have found them... Well then they shall be released from their cages."
The blue Paws grinned evilly at Raz and the small red kit moved to stand before her. The kit, tiny in comparasion to the males, growled and spit in the language Raz now took to be the Paws native tongue. Her hair stood on end along her neck and back. "Shhh little one." she whispered, "It'll be alright. Please, don't make them angry."
Azrael nodded his head, greatly pleased with the turn his life had taken. He flicked one hand to the two Paws, "Go now. Finish the task I have given you and then you'll be free once again." The Paws sprang to their feet and raced from the room. Their every movement echoed by the other. Their tongues hanging loosely in a manner that spoke more of a canine than a well manner feline. Their eyes swollen as their minds focused on their prey.
"Soon sister, all will be right in the world again." He turned his gaze to the tiger, "I am sure by now your small liren knows of where you are and thue trouble she is in?"
Raz looked quickly to the tiger who still laid bleeding and panting in the corner and listened as her brother spoke again. "She will do as I command or you will both die. Makes sure she understands this."
Raz backed up quickly before turning and running from the room. Behind her all she could hear was the insane laughter of her older brother.
