In his excitement, Wesimbi's coordination failed him and he toppled gently into the grass again, sitting up with mussed hair and staring eagerly at Kira. "We...." he began, and then trailed off; his face drooped and the human expression of sadness looked strange. "We visited my father," he said quietly.
Sema started, jerking his wings. "The Old One?"
"Yes. He...we tried to tell him, to explain to him the problems here in the world of free air, but he did not care to listen. He said that these new forms were...a gift. Told us we'd be restored in time, or something...." He shook his head, pressing two fingers to his temple. "It's difficult to recall. But he did say that the dragon attacks in the Blue Valleys would stop. Azrael is powerful, but even he could never stand before my father. The attacks will stop."
Sema nodded slowly, and then smiled. "Forgive me, great Guardian - I am Sema of the Avariel, a long friend of your beloved Kira. Forgive her for telling me much about you." He gave a sweeping bow before Wesimbi, dipping his wings in respect.
The Guardian smiled, and did not even notice that he smiled - already the human form was working on his subconscious. "I am pleased to meet you, Sema. Anyone who has earned Kira's respect and friendship has also earned mine."
Sema bowed again and flashed Nashota an eldritch grin. "I am also pleased to make the acquaintance of Nashota of the Jellicles. It seems to me that you two are in quite a state, but I have a solution - come with us! We travel east in search of the Jellicle Kaleadora and her charge, Dante of the Cheysuli. They are known to you, no doubt."
Wesimbi's smile widened. "For myself, I would be very glad for the purpose, and to recover those two that have been so long separated from the rest. What do you think, Nashota?" He looked at her, delighted at her excitement.
