Subject: It Takes A Man Part 4

It Takes A Man (Chapter Four)

Previously in “It Takes a Man”…Blair gave Todd a well-deserved ass whooping and told him to be gone by the time she was back from picking up the children.

Todd was expecting Blair to be angry, but he never dreamed that she would kick him out. He considered running after her and telling her that this was technically Starr’s house and that he was not leaving. However, he knew that eventually she would calm down and she would beg HIM to come back home. She would forgive, if for no other reason than because he was cuddly. Todd
contemplated his next move, he thought about going to the penthouse, where he and Blair planned to use strictly for nights of wild sex, but he ended up going to the place where he first met HIS woman.

Approximately 11:00pm…

At Rodi’s, Todd ordered round after round of scotch. He needed to forget tonight and this was the only way he knew how to. When the clock struck midnight, Todd had been drinking non-stop for an hour. Jonsey told him that it was closing time and that he had reached his limit long time ago, so he had to leave. Not feeling like arguing, Todd managed to take two bottles from behind the bar without Jonsey noticing, and drunkenly strutted out of Rodi’s. His next destination was the docks, the same spot where he went to drown his sorrows when he and Blair lost their first son.

Blair came home around 12:00am with Starr and Jack after she was convinced that Todd was gone. She and Susan, who she had picked up on her way to Vicki’s, each lifted a sleeping child up the stairs and put them in their respective beds. Blair asked Susan to come over because she did not have the will to care for her children tonight. All she knew was that she wanted them with her in case that jerk got any crazy ideas about stealing them or giving them away to strangers.

After making sure that both children were sound asleep, Blair went into her and Todd’s room, threw herself on their bed and started to cry. What she really wanted to do was watch Jack sleep, study his face and try to come to terms with the fact that this was really HER baby. Knowing that she had given birth to him didn’t make her love him anymore than she already did. What it did do was make her come to the realization that the emptiness that she had in her heart for her dead child was now replaced with the emptiness that she felt from Todd’s betrayal.

Approximately 12:30am…

Todd sat at the edge of the docks with his feet dangling over the water. He had finished both bottles of scotch and just sat there babbling like a wino to himself. He wondered what kind of man he was to do this to a woman who he claimed to love. Maybe Blair was right all those years ago when she called him a monster (Todd flashes back to almost raping Blair).

Blair had stood by him when no one else would. She was his only friend when this whole stinking town branded him the demon spawn of Victor Lord. But what had he done? He stole her child, married Senorita Troll, told her that she could count on him only to turn her into the police and then embarrass her in front of half of Llanview. In spite of all of these betrayals she still had faith in him and agreed to marry him for the…he had lost count. Todd tried to rationalize his actions by saying that he wouldn’t have given their baby away if she didn’t lie to him, but his deception was ten times more hateful that her’s was.

Todd knew that he had to do everything in his power to get his family back. Being with Blair and their children meant more to him than anything in this world. He would give up ALL of his millions for them. Blair might not like that, but he knew that he would do whatever it took to fix this. He HAD to fix it. His fixing usually caused more trouble, but he could not just sit back and watch his life slip away. Blair and their children were his main source of happiness and he would NOT give up without a fight.

Still drunk, Todd slowly got up to start his mission to “fix it.” Before he knew what was happening, Todd slipped and fell face first into the cold river water.
