Subject: I wonder how Jeddy did at Donovan's today
In reply to: TomG. 's message, "Battening down the hatches..." on 17:44:54 09/18/04 Sat

Today was supposed to be the annual Jersey City gathering at "Donovan's Reef" in Seabright. Knowing that town and how it's usually the first place underwater on days like these, I hope Jeddy brought his flippers and snorkle. There was a Gale, high tide, and surf warnings.

I hear that the Deleware River is supposed to top the 1996 flood stage tonight. Mrs Sammy and the girls are up at the other house and say the Musconetcong is high too.

It surely was a soggy day today.

Did you see the damage to the barrier Island that Ivan did down on the gulf? I couldn't imagine what would happen if a hurricane like that bashed into the New Jersey shore. We really haven't been hit in my lifetime, just brushed a couple of times by a catagory one (75mph winds), and the damage was big then. A direct hit like Ivan would wipe the beach fronts clean. And you know we're way overdue!
