I've always called my meds "kidney eaters" because when you take them for awhile you can actually feel them affecting the kidneys (I guzzle cranberry juice). You are very correct about the pain, I often have to rely on vicadin for relief just to function. But I have lost alot of weight and that has helped me too. I'm actually better now than I was two years ago and can do a whole lot more than I used to be able to. They have me on meds that control my immune system (the cause) and a few steroid shots helped to limber things up as well.

Mrs Sammy is doing well and is currently spending her days making her holiday soap and entertaining her friends and my sisters in the evenings with her crafting salons. (more like a hen house with all the cackling and such)

Michel is happy and living in West End Long Branch and attending Monmouth. Lois and Kathryn are here going to school every day and making daddy proud. Lois being a teenager has a phone attached to her ear for most of her waking hours talking to boys or friends about boys (UGH). Kate is still taking her dancing lessons and is now practicing "tap" (god help me keep my sanity through the noise of a little girls constantly "tapping" around the house).

Mom has had a very difficult summer and spent most of the Spring and Summer going in and out of the hospital for various reasons. She's been home now for over a month and is doing great. She's regained all of her strength to the point where she's been able to start back on the chemo last week.

For the most part I haven't been working at all (except a couple minor things) and have devoted myself to spending as much time as I can with my Mom while I can. I've also been playing the part of "Mr Mom" and watching the girls so that Mrs Sammy has been free to do as she wishes. (after all those years she's held the fort I figure I should take my turn).

So when I'm not busy with domestic issues I spend my time at the piano writing.

As for the vioxx thing, if there is a class action suit I may join it, but I refuse to sue my doctor. Besides being a good friend, he prescribed that medication in good faith and doesn't deserve to be dragged through the courts as a result of the drug manufacter's greed. If indeed they find that Merck knew and did nothing then I'll go after them with every resource I have. But if there was no way of knowing, I won't do anything legal. I have a thing about people suing because of mistakes. I always felt that people shouldn't try to get rich because of mistakes and accidents. Life itself is a gamble, sometimes you eat the bear...sometimes the bear eats you.

I'm fairly sure that it's the vioxx that caused my problems, and whether it's permanent remains to be seen. I do know that I need to take BP meds daily now and they can't seem to figure what the cause is. Diovan seems to be controlling it.

I hope you Mapguy and Gumdrop are well. You must be settled into the new house by now. So how do you like it there?
