there goes the waistline!

I think that more than anything, Thanksgiving is an Italian holiday, because the theme is eating, and eating ..... and eating. And then when you can't even move - they wheel out all the deserts. The day signifies the beginning of the end of any hope to retain weight losses attained through the bathing suit season and in the remainder of the holiday season any Italian worth his basilagoi can only hope to stave off an artery choking heart attack.

Case in point - I made an apple pie which was pretty decent - and had a slice even though I hadn't a whit of room left in my gullet. My son had made two pumpkin custard pies all by himself ...... so I was obligated to try a slice .... right? That was really pretty good too, but I was able to resist the second slice that I was seriously craving ........ because ......... I needed to save room for a canoli that I insisted on having on hand - probably because Crazy Tissy called the day before and asked where was the bakery that I always get those things from and it reminded me to stock up just in case there was a run on canoli and they became rationed.

Thankfully today is warm enough to go to the outside basketball courts and have a little work out this morning - I will definitely finish up with a full court lay-up drill. That really gets the heart rate up and it will help work up an appetite so I can come home and help clean out the fridge. The only thing better than Thanksgiving dinner is the warmed up Thanksgiving left overs - the turkey and stuffing seems to be even more tastey the next day. But hey - I'll be starved and I deserve it - all I have had for breakfast is a cup of coffee and a large slice of apple pie.
