Subject: We'll be heading to Syracuse on New Year's Day.
In reply to: Sammy 's message, "I'm sure Katie has strong doubts but is hedging her bet." on 19:06:57 12/15/03 Mon

We planned to see my in-laws from New Year's Day through that weekend. Usually, when we go there in the winter, Syracuse has some snow on the ground. We've been fairly lucky, though, that we haven't been snowed in beyond our planned time off. (We usually come home the day before we have to head back to work.)

It's been so hectic at work -- I had to come in over the weekend -- that I didn't have much time to devote to decorating and such. I was able to get it done with some help from Gumdrop on Sunday. The house looks nice (well, probably as nice as it could -- I'm no decorating genius).

Isn't it funny how you can tell that the little ones are a bit suspicious, but they don't want to let on? Gumdrop has made a big show out of creating her "wish list," plus there are repeated mentions of Santa's name and how he has so many toys to deliver in one short night. I would never have the heart to tell her I'm on to her!

I think it's so wonderful that you sing that hymn every year. "Ave Maria" is truly a lovely song. It sends chills down my spine, it's so haunting. I wish I could hear you perform -- I'll bet your voice is just beautiful.
