Sorry I'm late checking in with this...I'm actually in San Francisco as we speak, at the annual conference I go to each summer. (I must have been crazy...we went to Springsteen at the Meadowlands on Friday, got home at 3 a.m., slept awhile, then packed and headed up to my dad's last Saturday so he could take us to the airport for a 9:30 a.m. flight out on Sunday. But it was worth it!)

I'd read a lot that he was opening the shows with the acoustic version of "Born in the USA," but in deference to the showers we experienced, the band kicked off with "Who'll Stop the Rain," that old Creedence Clearwater song. He did lots of stuff from "The Rising," of course. In fact, I think the second song he did was "Lonesome Day."

Let's see, what were some of the others..."No Surrender," "Cadillac Ranch," "Dancing in the Dark," "Rosalita," (and those three completely kicked @$$), "She's the One," "Born to Run," "Somewhere in the Night," and an incredible version of that song from the 60's, "96 Tears." Don't know what brought that on, but Garland Jeffries came out to sing it with Bruce. For some strange reason -- probably because I remember totally useless facts but can't recall the important ones -- I was the one in our group who knew that the song was originally sung by Question Mark and the Mysterians.

Anyway, I can't believe how good Bruce is after all this time. The quality of his shows hasn't gone down a bit, even though he can't run around the stage like he used to. (But he tries, God bless him.) I think Ceeg fell in love that night. I love going to concerts with Bruce virgins; they get so blown away, it's fun to watch them react.

Hey, Sammy! How are you? I'm so sorry I haven't had the chance to come around here much. Busy spring an' all that. How's the family?
