We will see since it appears that it might actually pass. However if Im right, we wont know for a few years and if you are we wont know for a few years. But if Im right no one will be celebrating. Below are some of the things Im seeing that show that Doctors and prescription drug retailers are dropping Medicaid patients. It wont do any good to give people coverage that no one will take. And again.. They have to attack the root cause which is cost. They cant control costs by saying this is all we will pay.

Effective April 16,2010 Walgreens drugstores won't take any new Medicaid patients, saying that filling their prescriptions is a money-losing proposition — the latest development in an ongoing dispute over Medicaid reimbursement.

There are good reasons why many physicians don’t take Medicaid or only some Medicaid patients. Some are in poverty-stricken areas might go out of business if they accepted too many Medicaid patients. Indeed, physicians have say that they lose money on every Medicaid recipient that they see.

She was devastated, therefore, when Dr. Sahouri informed her a few months later that he could no longer see her because, like a growing number of doctors, he had stopped taking patients with Medicaid. Dr. Sahouri said that his reimbursements from Medicaid were so low — often no more than $25 per office visit — that he was losing money every time a patient walked in his exam room.

Many people, just as they become eligible for Medicare, discover that the insurance rug has been pulled out from under them. Some doctors — often internists but also gastroenterologists, gynecologists, psychiatrists and other specialists — are no longer accepting Medicare, either because they have opted out of the insurance system or they are not accepting new patients with Medicare coverage. The doctors’ reasons: reimbursement rates are too low and paperwork too much of a hassle.
