She sees that he is not in his stall so she walks to the office and checks the pasture chart. "Oh, hey Kelsey" Shayla calls, walking down the barn. "Hey Shay" Kelsey replies. "Time's out in the paddock" Shayla tells her. "Ok, i'll go get him" Kelsey replies. "Wait a minute, Kelsey" Shayla tells her. "Sure, whats up?" Kelsey asks. "I want to watch you work with Time today, if you dont mind" Shayla tells her. "Sure, you can watch. I'm going to start teaching him to lounge today" Kelsey tells her. "Great!" Shayla exclaims. Kelsey goes to the paddock and catches Time. the yearling nickers happily and noses her pocket, looking for the treat he knew was there. She clips a lead to his halter, then offers him the apple slice. he quickly grabs it and chews it, nodding his head happily. Then she leads him up to the barns, crossties him and grooms him while Shayla watches, standing about 10 feet away from the yearling. Then Kelsey puts the lounging cavasson on him and splint boots and bell boots on all 4 hooves. Durring the past few weeks, she had worked with the colt and taught him that boots were nothing to fear and to stand nicely while they were put on. Once he is ready to lounge, she leads him to the round pen. She clips the lounge line to his bridle and then leads him in a clockwise circle around the ring, slowly stepping back from him until she is standing in the center of the ring and he is walking a circle around her. Suddenly, he realizes she isnt next to him anyomore and stops dead, staring at her. "Its ok Time, walk on" she tells him. He takes a cautious step forward, listening to Kelsey's familiar voice. "Good boy" She praises him and he boldly takes another step. Again Kelsey praises him until he confidently walks a full circle around her. Then she repeats the process in the other direction and when he gets it right, she gives him another apple slice and takes him back to the barn to groom him and put him away. Once he is back in the paddock Shayla walks over to Kelsey. "Your doing great with him! Hes come along very well since you started working with him" Shayla tells her. "thanks" Kelsey replies proudly. "Well, i'm sure Saddle will be here soon to pick you up and i have some stuff to do, so i'll see you tomorrow" Shayla replies. "Ok, see you soon Shayla" Kelsey replies.
