These two movies are great. The sequel, as much as people have been lambasting it, could really be even better than the first. (but i guess that depends on if they wrap it up well in the finale)
but what is all this talk about more to life? Do you not have enough? I think that's why people love movies like this so much, (including me) they let us fantasize that there is so much more to life, that our lives can be so much bigger.
Religions, schools, certain jobs go for this same appeal, and some work. People think that their lives are bigger with religion. Does it need to be? In my opinion, what i get here on earth is it. That's not sad, that's awesome! There's so much do to, learn, read and see! I moved to a town where the bay is downtown, and the mountains are 30 miles east.I can do anything, go kayaking, mountain biking, snowboarding, whatever. My job is awesome, my wife is the best. Sure, watching a movie for a couple fo hours is cool, makes me think a little, but this is life. If you don't like it, change it.

In a lot of ways, i think the matrix is an allegory for our government and religion, and how they control us, just as Tolkein's Lord of the Rings was an allegory of British society and religion. (By the way, that's why hobbits are small, to represent the British lack of imagination and sight)
Anyway, sorry, back to point. Think the world is controlling you, that your life is planned out from birth to death, and you're just another little cell in the system? It is, and you are. So change it! Don't do what you're told from birth. Do what you want. As long as your choices don't directly hurt another being, the world is pretty open to whatever. Travel, play around, do things, end up with a job you love, in a place you love. You don't have to be an accountant if you don't want to.
I think that's really what the Matrix is about: Choice. They even tell you. And what does Neo do? Jsut what he's not supposed to. And we know that will work out in the end.
Sorry for my rant, but i get irritated when people can watch these movies and only see more systems of control (ie: my life sucks, or relates to religion) in it.
have a good weekend, i'm going mountain biking.
