I felt that Phil's discussion was very informative. He made people think about music not just as entertainment but also envolving political thought and therefore a need for a great responsiblitiy. According to Phil, by buying music, one may be supporting an idustry who assemilate and consume other cultures music and devalue their struggles or authenticity/uniqueness. I agree with the fact the people need to be responsible consumers, I just did not like the generalizitions. I feel as though the only way in which our society can stop consumming and commertializing others is by a complete change in our way of life. The problems are just to deep rooted for any simple solutions. Overall, I am very glad that I heard Phil's presentation because it did inlighten me and made me think of what I can do as a consumer to be more responsible for a serious cultural problem.
