Subject: March 29 Class, Phil's presentation

I really enjoyed Phil's presentation about politics and music. I personally never thought of music in a political way except when a musican alines themselves with a politician or when a song comes accross with a strong political theme. Two examples that come to mind are Midnight Oil's song "Beds are Burning"' written about land being expropriated from aborigines in Australia and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young's song "Ohio"(1970), about the National Guard shooting and killing four Kent State University students during a demonstration against the Vietnam War.

I'm not sure if I will ever listen to music again without somewhat thinking of the political connotation behind the lyrics or music.
