Castleknock (Caisleán an Cnoc, the castle on the hill)was an Elizabethan castle and village to the west of Dublin. Since the 1960s the area has been built up
and is now a rather swanky area. You could call it an expanded village or a suburb of Dublin.If you have a map of Dublin,look for the Phoenix Park starting at the River Liffy and follow the main road (Chesterfield Avenue)through the Park. There you will find the area of Castleknock located near Blanchardstown and Cloneen.I was born about three miles from there.
