Subject: Pronounciations

I've started reading the teach yourself Irish Gaelic lessons but I'm confused with the pronounciation guides. Are the English guide words pronounced using British English, American English, Australian English or what? (This should really be stated somewhere BTW) Because the examples don't match up with American English.
