Is mise Gary. And I would like to Thank You for your help. I am 3rd generation here in America, and though my Grandfather would sometimes speak to me in Gaelic, when I was very, very young, I have lost it all, over the years. I've just recently deceided to learn as much of it as I can, with dictionaries and self-taught books. That is why this Lass loves to tease me so. She was born and raised in Limerick, went through school in the convents, then when she was old enough, off to Cambridge for her degree, and has been living in the Scottish Highlands ever since. The reason I'm telling you this is, I want to know if she is keeping within one dialect (Irish Gaelic), as best you can tell from the previous two sentences she wrote. But is some of it considered "slang Gaelic". for example, this sentence she recently wrote: "fair pouring oot ra noo". and she closes with the line "So, whats the goz.?"
Its driving me Batty triing to translate it all.!!! Are there any books on translating Gaelic you could reccomend to me for future use, so this way I wouldn't have to bother you, or other menbers of the board. I surely do appreciate your help, Brian.....
