Being a teacher, I do find myself asking a child why did they do something not realizing that they might not understand or can place themselves in that situation in order to understand what they have done. I also agree that it is important to differentiate between what is morally and ethnically right and what may or may not be legal. When you are teaching you find yourself teaching your students life lesson especially when they are constantly cutting up or being disrespectful. Sometimes I wonder if morality has been thrown out the window and we've started to live in a world where it's every man for themselves.

I also agree with you about Erikson's theory. I could relate to certain stages or picture a family member or friend being in a certain stage or acting a certain way because of his theory. As teachers and counselors we need to understand both moral development and identity and self-development theories. This way we can better understand our students, where they are and where they need to be so we can help them reach that level of success.
