I guess with all the shounen and seinen stuff they're doing, they have to come up with female characters that fit into the steriotype (sp?). Hence your point about Sakura going from being a strong, independent girl to one who is...not (adjectives are failing me at the moment...slipping...). Nobody really likes it, but I guess since boy's culture and girl's culture are two separate things in Japan, it would be harder to pull off series for boy's story using plot and character devices for a girl's story.

But then: why is "Tsubasa" shounen and not shoujo?

Skanks, where is our "X"?

(And I've always thought of CLAMP as shoujo mangaka. I was in a car with a bunch of macho manly man men talking about "Chobits" not too long ago. Something about that struck me as very strange, even if "Chobits" is a seinen series... @_@;;;)
