 I'd still say that Subaru is more powerful that Karen. Karen really has no defense, while Subaru has a great deal of it (he's skilled with kekkai/sheilds - you see more evidence of this in Tokyo Babylon. Take a look there if you can), and STILL has a lot of offense. He's also cited as being the one of the most powerful Onmyouji in a long while (the other being Seishirou). The fact that he IS an Onmyouji gives him a leg up over Karen as well. Onmyoudou is all about balancing the elements and bending them to your will. The fact that Karen is an elemental fighter puts her at a disadvantage to Subaru, who could bend her elemental powers and send them back to her, or nullify them altogether.
