Hi peoples! Jasmine is busy packing her things so I get to make the BIG announcement. First, I dunno if you have a copy of the song "What Makes You Different (Makes You Beautiful" by the Backstreet Boys but if you do, play it while you read this as it is our official crowning song. : ) Cool huh? Jasmine did leave a few words for you and I share the sentiment.

"You all already know that you are winners and though only some of you will be declared national titleholders, EVERY ONE OF YOU are members of this royal family. You will always be welcomed with open arms with news of your lives and experiences from this day on. Send lots of pictures! Keep in touch. Don't be strangers!

You are truly the cornerstone of the Miss Sparkle America program. This program will grow because of the work you put into it as representatives. Some of you also have other pageant systems to represent as well as school and careers but please among all tge chaos that life sometimes brings, do not forget us. You are always special in our hearts."

So without further ado....

Tiny Miss Sparkle America 2002 - Bailey Perez
Petite Miss Sparkle America 2002 - Kandy Laukala
Junior Miss Sparkle 2002 - Cherraye Bess

I wanted to say congratulations to everyone ! Way to go Holly, I am so proud of you, you seem like an amazing woman. Actually I am proud of all of you. It is an honor to be apart of the Sparkle America Family, and I thank you for allowing me the chance to compete with you, and get to know you all better.I think we are all superb women, and we are all queens. Thank you Jasmine, and Felicia for running a wondeful contest. Thank you to the judges, and thank you to all the other contestants. I feel so sorry for the judges, I am sure they had difficult decisions to make in the Ms division. Holly, Chauna, and Angela...what a group we have I personally know how amazing Chauna and Angela are, Angela is my pageant mommy! Although I do not personally know Holly, I feel I have gotten to know her through the course of this contest, and I think she is a truly remarkable woman. I want to be just like her when I grow up ! Congratulations Ladies, everything is deserved.

Hello everyone. I am so sorry that we have not been able to participate in the message boards so far. We were busy preparing for the Washington State Miss American Coed pageant which we just got home from. WHEW!!!! I'm exhausted and all I did was be a "pageant mom". LOL :)

I will show Kandy the fantastic news tomorrow when she wakes up. She crashed as soon as we got home. She did not win at the pageant, but we all know there can only be one winner. (as sad as that is) I know that this will pick up her spirits knowing that she did WIN, just not in the pageant we attended!!!!

I am very proud to be her mother. She is an awesome girl and I know that she will grow up to be an awesome woman. Remember that

You can do anything - or You can do nothing
the choice is yours to make!!!!

Love
Kim Laukala

I am interested in qualifications of being a state queen. Also, do you have a photo of the Wisconsin queen Ms. Lampkins to see if I evven could compare to her? How do I get involved in the Miss Sparkle pageants?

Hi,
Hope you are all doing well. Just wanted to let you know that I've started my own pageant system, Natural Beauty Pageant Systems. I'm only doing pageants in my local area right now to start and to see how it takes off here. Someday I hope to be as big as Sparkle/Radiant Royalty but I think that's a little ways down the road. The website is http://NBPageants.homestead.com/. I should have it up and running in another day or two. Enjoy your summer everyone and if you happen to be in California and you swing by Sacramento, let me know!

Hi All,
Just wanted to let you know how I did at the Mrs. CA US pageant this past weekend. I had a great time representing Sacramento at the pageant and I learned alot. I was honored to receive the Outstanding Community Service Award for my work on my spay or neuter your pet platform. And the best part is I was able to share the whole experience with my husband, who was very supportive and encouraging the whole time. Hope you are all well and enjoy your Spring Break and Easter holidays.

I thought Id let you all know on how I did, on my final crown nationals in Seattle. I am still so tired from the entire weekend!!!!! I waited hours at the airport, my luggage was searched, and then searched again, and the TRIP was long!!! And I even did some shopping, went to the Space Needle again, eating out, and was out and about day and night!

Well, I never did get my final tally on how I did on the Peoples choice voting portion, but I was told I was top 3. The director is going to e-mail those results to me, as the pageant was just too busy. Lily Siebert from CA is the winner of the 2003 Elite BIG $1000 final crown!!! ( I know she did it, and I even met her mom Nancee in person, and we all took tons of photos)

As for me I won: Divisional QUEEN for my age group!!!! Enchanting Ms. was the name of my division.

So what did I win?? I won this customized crown, (they are all smaller ones, like the Miss America Crowns.not big bucket ones! Same for the queen and divisional supreme too, they ae nice quality crowns), a cool navy national satin sash, a 27 trophy, and a gift bag with all sorts of goodies.a foot massager, bath stuff, chocolates, etc.

Yes, MIss Sparkle America, Rachael G and I did meet up and SHE even crowned me, and we took tons of photos together! Rachael's mom and I took photos too at the hotel.

I also won several optionals , which I was so surprised. I won: I got these cool colored rosette ribbons, pretty big. So 5 out of the 9 optionals I won.

Most beautiful
prettiest eyes
prettiest hair
Best personality
Best attire

There was a Divisional Supreme title too (one in each age division), which I didn't win this time....but I was Just the divisional QUEEN for my age group!!

Nationals went by really quickly, and and everything was done fairly early each day! I met tons of new pageant moms and friends, and had a wonderful time.

Thanks to all of you who voted for me regularly, and that's all the pageants for me this year!!! I need a break! Happy holidays to you all!!!

Hello,
I just wanted to wish everyone a happy holiday and terrific new year. I'm currently volunteering for Happy Tails Pet Sanctuary and Friends for Life Animal Outreach doing the Santa Paws fundraiser. Petsmart let's us have a Santa Claus booth set up and people bring their pets to have their pictures taken with him. If you have a pet, call your local Petsmart or Petco and find out if there is an animal rescue group doing it's Santa Paws fundraiser and go have your pet's photo taken. It's a great memory and lots of fun. I'm also collecting donations for the rescue groups such as towels, sheets, food, treats, toys, office supplies, plastic bowls, etc. Keep the animals in mind this holiday season and help out by donating a few items you could find at the dollar store or even in your own home. You really can make a difference.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Love, April

HI Sparkle sisters!!!!

I just wanted to ask a big favor from you all!!!! Well this voting portion of the contest ends in 8 days for me!!! I have done a really great job so far, and I am in the top 5, however I am still trying to get in as many votes as I can regardless. I will be competing in the live pageant in Dec in Seattle as well, so I will keep you all posted on how I do! I am getting all ready for the nationals! If you all can send an e-mail to:**** lorie@thefinalcrown.com **** and type in the SUBJECT line # 16 Karen, I will be internally grateful to all of you!!! I want a very strong finish, and could use ALL the votes I can get. If any of you ever need a favor with votes, e-me, and I'll be a faithful voter for sure!!!
Thank you so much....all the best to all you in all your future pageants!!!

Congrats to the new queens! You are all lovely. I was the first Ms. Sparkle-America two years ago, and it is really exciting to see how this pageant has grown in such a short time. The live one should be a blast!
To the new queens: ENJOY your title. The "sparkle" title is so fun. During my year, whenever I felt sad or frustrated, I would remind myself that I was Ms. Sparkle-America, and that always put a smile on my face.
Congrats again!

I just wanted to drop a line and say hello to everyone and say thank you for the honor of being named Ms. California Sparkle. I just noticed today when I checked out the web site. I look forward to a great year ahead. I'm going to start judging pageants this year and I'm very excited about that. I've been out of pageantry for about 10 years now (I'm 30) and this has given me the boost I needed to pursue my dream of the Mrs. California United States crown. Of course, I plan to promote the wonderful system you have here throughout the year and use my title to spread the word on something I believe strongly in and that's adopting pets from shelters and rescue groups, and controlling the pet population by having pets spayed and neutered. Thank you again for this opportunity and I am proud to represent the beautiful state of California.

Thank you to those of you once again who have bestowed such kind words upon me. It really makes my job as a director a worthwhile one. Of course even if I have been a good director, I can always get better and I plan to make this year a definite show of that. The website will be under a new name soon with an entirely new look and a LOT of focus on our reigning royalty! I want every one of my contestants and queens to be able to look back and say that I treated each of you with the highest respect possible because even though I am both young and childless, each of you still feels like one of my grandbabies born of a brainchild that was once just an idea before it became Radiant Royalty.

The future is YOU.

That is a key phrase that I want each of you to remember as you start this year off because from this point, all of your actions will have a direct effect on the future of this competition. As I find the time I will continue to change and restructure things but in the meantime sit back and enjoy the start of a beautiful new beginning!!!

WOW, I can't believe it's been a year. I've missed chatting with everybody here and I really wish I could've entered this year. I've been so busy, a lot has been going on. It was and will always be such an honor to have been crowned a State Queen and National princess and Miss Congeniality. This was one of my first pageants and definitely one of the best pageant experiences I've had. I'm so sad to see it's the last year for the online pageant. I'm getting new photos soon so I hope the photo contest will stick around. Jasmine you've done such a wonderful job with this pageant and the prizes are truly top quality. Best Of Luck with the live pageant. I hope to turn on the television one of these years and see your pageant on prime-time. I can't thank you enough for such an amazing experience and I wish all of the new title holders a wonderful reign. I will forever cherish my memories and prizes from Miss Sparkle America. I hope to chat some more on here.

Well it is 5:05 in the a.m. and I am through updating the website FOR NOW. I have been hooked on our new updated front page for so long now, lol. I think it makes a very nice statement indeed. Congratulations to ALL of our new royalty! I haven't known all of you for that long and I love you already. You are the members of a special generation in the Radiant Royalty family tree, mainly because this will be the last year of its online presence. I will save most of the important details for your royal greetings which will be sent out with your prizes.

There will be updated crown pics because we have most certainly upgraded EVERYTHING. No we didn't have a bigger budget this year, but when it comes to my royalty I just can't help myself sometimes. I LIVE for surprises. Upon finishing this posting I will take my leave and head to bed. Ok after I post the optional winners list ; ) but only because you begged.

Good night all or good morning to the first person who visits the site today! I am looking forward to a fantastic year working closely with each of you, learning more about you, and celebrating your future successes!

Love,

Your Director, Jammie (aka Jasmine)

Good Luck to each and every contestant. You are all winners in my book.

I have enjoyed having the honor of becoming not only Sparkle America's Model of the Year but also the National Grande Supreme Queen! I have represented the Sparkle America System in many parades, personal apperances (all over the United States), judging pageants (State/National), and Volunteer work. I have had lots of fun and made many new friends.

This is a wonderful system. To Ms. Jasmine ~ Thank you for the pleasure of representing your system. I enjoyed meeting you in person at the National Ideal Miss Pageant. (Congrat's again on becoming the first National Personality Plus Queen!)

To the 2003/04 Sparkle America National Grande Supreme ~ MANY congratulations. I am sure you will wear your crown and title with pride and dignity.

Holly Teven
2002/03 National Sparkle America Grande Supreme Queen
2002/03 National Sparkle America Overall Model of the Year

p.s. I also had the fantastic pleasure of appearing several times with the wonderful ~ King of Radiance ~ Logan.

Holly you are without a doubt one of the classiest women alive! A true queen who put in more than her fair share of hours proudly representing this system. I wish you well in all your future endeavors and hope to see you at America's Triple Crown Pageant in 2005, whether you are competing or helping out.

Thanks for the kind words and the memories. Meeting you, Amanda, and Logan has truly been one of my great life moments. I still remember seeing you in the pages of Pageantry years ago. You were all like celebrities to me and then to be crowned by you at Ideal Miss....it was a hoot and a half!

Thank you for all the photos! You will certainly never be forgotten here. I will treasure them forever.

Hellooooooooooooooooooooo to all entrants, outgoing royalty and excited bystanders!

It looks like another year has rolled to a close which leaves me feeling both anxious and a bit saddened. I am of course anxious to see who the new queens will be for the year and sad to see some of you go, of course that doesn't mean you can't stay in touch! Hehe.

I had stopped reading the message board for a long time because it kind of went on hiatus, but I see that I should have peeked at it earlier. Some of you have been trying to contact me it seems with little success and since it is partially my fault for not checking up on things I will give everyone about an extra week to get all materials in to me that they need to.

There will be NO NEW ENTRIES beyond this point.

This extension is for those who paid before the deadline yet still have one or two things missing from their packets because of concerns that were not addressed by me in a timely fashion. I will definitely be checking this board throughout competition week. I would highly suggest that you do so as well. Use it to interact with your fellow delegates and get to know one another! This is supposed to be fun, but you can always make it better.

Look for notes on the first ever live nationals in 2005 coming soon!

Well, I've really missed a lot. I'm glad everyone is doing well. Hey Jamsine, don't worry about the items that's gone missing, I'm sure you'll find them when you're not looking for them (that always happens). I can't wait until my senior year of high school is over. Everyone says I'll wish I could relive it again when I get older, but I seriously doubt that I'll want to do this again that bad.

I too don't want you to feel like I was jumping on you.The reason why I asked about the state prizes and ribbons was because you said that sence you decided to give everybody state titles you didn't have enough in the dudget
for the ribbons. That was the only thing I didn't understand.
You did inform us about your roomate and your car situation and about how busy you are with school. That I understand.
I still feel that this is a wonderful pageant and I'm proud to be apart of the royal family.

Hi Jasmine. I'll be the first to apologize, i dont want you to feel that I was jumping on you. Like some other people on the board, I just wanted to know what was going on. It is not neccessary for you to go into debt to correct anything in my opinion but thats just me. I am VERY happy that you were woman enough to address all of our questions because a lesser woman would not have addressed those things. I think you did a wonderful job in creating and carrying out the pageant. It was no small feat. I know that next year will be equally wonderful. I did not take anythign you said as being "mean" wrong or anything else" I felt that you equally had a right to express your feelings about everything and I was truly hoping you would. You restored my faith thank you. FYI I am not upset and was not before so please dont feel Im trying to back you into a corner, you satisfied everything I was looking for by just REPLYING...so thank you

Hey its me again DAAAAALLLLLHIIIIIAAAA ahhh run/ hide. okay I'm not tryng to beat the poor dead horse to death, I'm just trying to understand. Jasmine you addressed the runners up in the optional competitions saying that you decided to postpone or delay sending out the awards for the runners up. What about those who finished first in each of the optionals. Were those awards also dropped? Please dont think Im being snippy, I will be a faithful supporter of the organization whether we get million dollar crowns or nothing at all. i guess all that any of us is trying to say is that we're wondering where things stand. I think we're all fairly understanding when we know what the deal is. I'm sure that many of us wouldnt mind forgoing more expensive awards in order to allow the organization to thrive however I personally would have liked to know that there was trouble and that awards were dropped and why. It helps me be more understanding and more prone to overlook certain awards being dropped. Even a message on the board saying that you just financially couldnt do it/ dont have time etc. Really I DO understand! Things happen! Regardless you're doing a wonderful job and I'm sure you're working just as hard in your other endeavors as you are here so keep up the good work! Please take this as an inquisitive question rather than an attack, because honestly your answer one way or the other will not affect the fact that I see an extremely focused, determined and business oriented individual in my midst. Thanx for the patience!

I'm a little confused myself on the issue of optional awards...As far as I know, everyone who placed 1st in an optional category would recieve a plaque and from what I know everyone did. One of the problems may have been with the plaques for the national queens. I recall removing everythng from the box when it arrived and putting everything back except for the plaques for the national queens. To be completely honest, I'm not sure where they went to. I looked everywhere for them. That does not mean they were eliminated. They will be sent at a later date along with other missing items once I sort everything out.

Speaking of missing items; the ribbons for the runners up in the optionals. Of my suppliers this year, none of them sold ribbons and I was SO late in getting everything out I decided it was best to get the crowns to their owners than to keep things an extra couple of weeks while I figure out where to get the ribbons and which one goes to whom. Everyone will get what they deserve but I am asking for a bit more time with that.

Hello everyone!

I know it has been a lonnnnnnng time since I have visited the message board. I haven't read everything in depth yet but I did see a few things that concerned me and so I wanted to address those issues. Please don't take anything I say to be hostile in nature. I'm not angry at all, just expressing my side of things. : )

To Kara: I understand why you would have reservations about entering. My question is, why didn't you e-mail me directly? I would have been happy to tell you anything you wanted to know.

To EVERYone in general: I am truly truly sorry if there were a great deal of disappointments. This year was better in terms of the number of people entered and the sheer amount of enthusiasm that I felt from every one of you. It is exactly that which motivates me to press on with the competition year after year.

However, as we all know, sometimes the unexpected happens and things don't always turn out the way we plan. It began at the beginning of the summer when I purchased a computer for my aunt because I was so proud of her getting her GED. Since she has practically been a mother to me I wanted to do something special for her. However, the man who sold me the system was dishonest and I was involved in a long legal battle that just ended last week.

Second, I was promoted this year to the position of WATCH intern and because of bad planning I was exhausted by the time crowning rolled around due to intense training. The updating of the website also suffered as well. After that, I had a girl whom I thought to be my friend move in with me only to discover that she was psychotic. Again, this took a toll on me on a physical and emotional level. Luckily, I was able to get away from all of that, but it was the cause of a major delay in getting everyone's packages out.

Third, I do not have a car which prevents me from doing the simplest things. I am working on that and hopefully by December things will be taken care of, but every place I cannot bus to I must seek out the aid of others and I HATE to impose. Since I mistakenly thought I would actually be getting paid for the job I do, my entire budget for the year was completely incorrect.

These are not excuses, not by any means. As people you trusted me with your money and in my eyes you did not recieve all that you deserved. I did the best I could do with the budget in terms of doing what I felt was best for EVERYone and if that meant sacrificing a 10" crown for the grand supreme winner in order to purchase a crown for all of the representatives this year then that was my logic.

Also, allow me to explain my thinking behind the price differences. The basic package is for those who do not have a lot of money to compete but would still like the chance. Entry fees for most competitions similar to this one are going up up up. We must remember however that this pageant is about the quality of the entrant, not the amount of money she can contribute. It's a balance. By purchasing the basic package she is of the knowledge that she will recieve a medallion and her state title in name only. No crown or banner. She STILL has a chance to be a national winner. Those who choose to pay more also recieve their state title but also get a keepsake crown and banner to show for it. Neither of the two entry types are treated any differently. It is a matter of personal preference for each person. This year I decided to provide even the basic package entrants with a crown and banner for the simple fact that I was so proud of everyone. This was my decision paid for with my own money so please don't accuse me of monetary mismanagement : )

Again I ask for your understanding in this matter. I am trying as hard as I can to keep things under control. With time, all of my wrongs will be corrected and that is one promise I can make with confidence. I just hope that this has not completely shaken your confidence within me and the Sparkle America/Radiant Royalty namesake.

Kara,I understand what you're saying.I would like to know why it wasen't mentioned that there wouldn't be any ribbons and why some paid more for a state title while others didn't have.I'm sure there must be a reason.

Dalhia.I don't want you feeling like it's your fault in any way why i'm worried about entering.I understand the whole crown thing because on the soarkle page it says that there has to be at least 10 people entered in your age division in order to get those crowns. What worries me is that it also says that if you pay a bit extra then you can get your state tilte but yet she gave everybody a state title and I don't think it's fare to have some people pay exrta and some not.My worries about entering are also not the fault of the other contestant asking about the prizes. It also worries me that she never told any of you about not giving the ribbons and not announcing the director award especialy after she sais she would.Other then these things the pageant seems great but I don't think that what happend to you girls is fare.

hi Kara this is Dalhia, the last person who sent the message on awards. I apologize if I tainted your idea of the pageant. There really were good points about the pageant. True, we did not get the crowns that were advertised but that is understandable because the pageant is relatively new and because only a few of us entered making it virtualy impossible to get those same awards because of finances. As for myself I was very pleased with my tiara and plaque despite it not being what was in the picture as for the Director, Jasmine, she has been very prompt in repsonding to most of the other messages even those that had serious questions. She has been very sweet throughout and helped me a great deal in getting into the pageant. Im sure she will adress the emails when she gets the chance. So please dont totally give up on entering. By asking my questions I was just trying to get some clarity on some issues I wanted jasmine to answer for me. All in all I do consider it a good experience. Have a great week
Keep smiling :)

I really want to enter but i'm worried because i've been reading the message board and the director hasen't gotten back to your questions regarding prizes. It's not right that some people had to pay more money for a state tilte while others didn't and it's not right that she didn't tell you that there wouldn't be any ribbons. You should get what it says when you enter and it shouldn't change at the last minute.Especialy without you knowing until you get your prizes. Also the winner of the directors award was never announced.I'm not bad mouthing.I would love to enter. But it just doesn't sound right, whats happening.

Hi,So not everybody paid extra for the state title because some of us did.Why did we pay extra for the state title while others didn't?I understand that not everybody gets a national title but it doesn't seem fare that some of us had to pay extra while others didn't.Because it wasen't those that get particular titles have to pay more.We all should have paid the same.
I can't wait for the site to be finished.

Hullo all!

I'm glad the website is getting such positive reviews. The funny thing is, it's nowhere NEAR finished. I've been spending a good deal of time looking for even more ways to make it great. I'm really excited about the music too. I think it really helps the site come to life.

Anywho...in regards to the optional awards (this goes for all the runners-up), I was SO behind in getting everything out to everyone that I decided to either postpone sending the ribbons or just remove them altogether. In this case I decided to remove them from the awards list because I wanted to do something nice and award everyone who entered their state title. Budgetwise and timewise it seemed the right thing to do.

And while you're out looking for a job, grab one for me too Dalhia! Hehehe. Take care all.

I love the way the site looks.I'm so excited about how far this pageant is going.
I love my prizes.Istead of giving me another tiara with my sash for Miss Friendship I got a medal with my sash.I was so surprized.I thought that was a great idea.
Who won what places for what optionals?Fill me in.I know it said you get ribbons for winning second and third places in the optionals.
I'm still so excited about this pageant.

Wowie! So much goes on in our worlds each day. Of course all of you are in my prayers and I just know things will get brighter for each of you. I think I e-mailed Erika Watkins already but everyone should know that I was allowed to move out last Thursday and was relocated to another building. Life is wonderful. Not only is my new room huge compared to the old one, but my new roomie is quiet and respectful and not even around most of the time, lol. It's a great place to work and function.

Also, since I've had more of a chance to focus, I was invited to submit a business plan to a venture capital company recently and I have been working very hard on it. This means that if the board reviews it and likes it, Sparkle America and Radiant Royalty (hmmm I may use that one as our official moniker) may be going live next year with scholarships, big screen tv's, cruises and the whole nine. That means it would be ten years earlier than I anticipated. Here's hoping!

You all are the best! I love ya!

Hi, I'm not a contestant of anything, but my friend was. She showed my on the computer what the crown for the age division was going to look like and we were excited about it. How come the crown she got was different?

Hello Kisha,

I've heard some good things about you from your friend. I thought you were even going to enter ; ). Anywho, in response to your question, the crowns featured are what we plan to award each queen in the event that there are at least ten entries per division. As you can see they look very expensive and that is because they are. I kick in so much of my own money to the budget each year and so I must determine ways to spread the wealth the best way possible instead of focusing on one part of the prize package. I hope there wasn't a great deal of disappointment. As far as the plaques go for national winners, I decided to send those at the completion of their reign as a farewell token.

Jasmine please do something to get this person out of your life.I wish I lived out there so we could be roomates.Like you said it's harder then just moving but even with the mediation this person sounds like they have a great deal of problems and you never know what she's capable of.I'm worried about you living with this person.I want you to be o.k.If you ever need to talk you can email me anytime.

Yes, his name is Kyuu (pronounced Q) and he is one of my co-workers on the security team. I am proud to work with him as he is a very dedicated member of the squad. He surprised me with the message he posted on the board because I had forgotten to close the browser when I left for one reason or another. It was a very pleasant surprise and I'm glad he was able to share his kind words with us.

Hi everyone, its Amy checking back in...I am SOOOOOO sorry that I have not posted in a while...my keyboard broke about three weeks ago, I could still get online and check the board cause my mouse worked, and the board is in my favs, but I couldn't type anything.
To answer the question about what we have all been up to lately. Well, I had mid terms last week, so the week before was time to study study study...I have only gotten one back so far...the good news is I had the highest grade in the class, the bad news is, it was only a B-, so I am hoping for better results elsewhere.
Thank you all for your prayers, my dad is responding great to treatments, and is getting better every day!!! I have been busy running back and forth to Pittsburgh with my husband the past few eeks, his grandfather (who practically raised my hubby) is very sick...he's had three operations, and they need to do one more on him, but we are at a point where if he doesn't have the surgury soon he will die, but his heart is so weak they aren't sure he will live through the surgury. But I believe that it is all in God's hands...he is a good man, and has brought so much joy and love to so many people that if the Lord decides it is time for him to come home, who are we to question. Nonetheless, it is very hard, I can't stand to see my husband (and his grandmother) in so much pain.

Kisha, welcome to the board, I am sorry to hear about you and your friend's disappointment...I have not received my crown yet, but I'll keep in touch with you to let you know what type of crown I received. I am sure there was just some type of silly mix up...Jasmine has been working so hard on this pageant, and then al of the other things going on in her life...she's amazing.

Jasmine, I wanted to let you know that I am very interested in forming a chapter of Nu Sigma Rho ...I have a few friends who are really interested, too...drop me an e-mail with all of the details...pageantqueen3@yahoo.com.

Well, I hope that everyone is doing well, and I will chat with you all soon!

Love,
Amy Bosko,
Miss Sparkle America 2003

hey ladies Just thought Id stop in and say hi. Im just trying to help keep up the momentum of the mesaage board for those of us that still come in. Heres my question of the day: What are you currently doing to occupy you time? Aside from work not much is going on here but in terms of volunteer events Im trying to become more involved in breast cancer awareness and literacy. Hopefully I spelled no words wrong in saying that I wanted to be a literacy volunteer, but this is online so it doesnt count :)

take care

Wow! Jasmine, are you okay?!?
Criminy! It's scary to think there are people that abusive out in this world. I mean, look at what's going on in the DC area... It's unbelievable what terrible things human beings are capable of! **Sigh** Of course, we're just as capable of wonderful things, too. Just look at everyone here! :) Jasmine, if you need anything, even just a should or an ear, please don't hesitate to drop me a line. I know from our conversations and from seeing what you've posted and put together here that you are a tremendously strong woman. I know you'll grow even stronger from your experience.

I know I don't get to post often. I find my Internet time is so limited with everything I've been keeping myself busy with these days! (Good things, good things. Working a lot, yes, but also school, volunteering, and entrepreneurial efforts!) Something told me to post here today, and after reading what happened to Jasmine, I know why. I want all you ladies (and gents) to know that you're always in my thoughts and prayers.

With much love,
Faith
=)

Hello everyone. At least those of you who still post on this board anyway ; ). I hope everyone is doing well. I have not been so good unfortunately and the delay of sending out the prizes is partially due to the fact. I seem to have had the misfortune of inviting an abusive person to live with me and it has been a strain on both mind and body. We had a mediation not long ago between myself and my roommate with our residence hall coordinator. She stopped hitting me which is good but she is still a pain in every other way including her stalker tendencies. You might be wondering why I don't just move out, but to be quite honest it's a little more difficult than that. : )

Either way I PROMISE PROMISE PROMISE that everything will go out by the end of this week. No more delays. It's all sitting in boxes. They just need to be addressed and shipped. I'm sorry the delay had to happen this year. Hopefully I will be driving by the next crowning and I'll be totally on top of things. All of you mean the world to me and I hope Sparkle America will remain a special part of your lives.

Well Bonjour!!! How is everyone doing? Well, the end of the first nine weeks is almost over and this has been a very interesting and exciting start off for my senior year! Unfortunetly, I missed the deadline for the FAMU Homecoming Parade, I didn't know when I would have the crown and sash and I waited to late to contact the parade director, but no worries. I'm determined to spread the word about Sparkle America. Is anyone else planning appeareances or projects with their title? I hope so, if not, maybe we could plan something together, I really would like to meet all of you in person anyway. Well, I have to get back to studying (I'm taking American Government Honors), talk to you all later.

>Hi Shauna and everyone!!

I can't wait to start representing the Miss Sparkle system.
I started in pageants in March and have been able to participate in many different systems - it has been fun and sometimes not so fun, but we live and learn, right? My mommy says we go to have fun and the crown is just a bonus if we get to take it home. I recently won the 2002-2003 Natioanl title for Little Miss US Beauties Tiny Princess and I am heading to Atlanta, GA in November to compete at Nationals after winning the Illinois/Indiana State Overall Grand Photogenic for America's Fabulous Faces. I am very nervous, but mommy tells me not to be -- we will meet many new friends and take lots of pictures. I can't wait until the new pictures are posted so I can see how wonderful each of you are!!! :0)
I have to go now, I picked apples yesterday at the apple orchard with my preschool class and now I get to help my grammie make an apple pie!!!
I hope everyone has a great day!!
Love ~ Bailey

hey ladies! Amy don't sweat the sorority believe me. I've had many groups, organizations, jobs that I wanted fall through, but I can honestly say that each time I "lost out" something so much better always came along. It was during those times that I had to tell myself that God cleared the junk out of my way so I could get to the good stuff! I said all of that to say....that sorority did not know what it was missing. Now the junk is out of the way and you can focus on all of the wonderful things yet to come, and Im sure those things are right aroung the corner :) :) :) :) :)

Finally...things are settling down and I feel like I can tackle everything and still have some energy left over.
My awards supplier contacted me on Tuesday and informed me that they would be shipping everything out that day so things should arrive early next week. After that I'll be boxing and sending out everything to their respective owners so you can get out there and start making appearances in style.

I completely overlooked the fact that I didn't update the website so I'm going to work on that. I also hope that the Tevens are doing alright. I'm taking everything in stride and I love you all!

Hi Everyone...

Just thought that I'd check in and say hello. I am having a bit of a down day, the sorority that I wanted to pledge turned me down tonight, so I guess I'm bummed. Other than that, school is going well, and life is starting to settle down, and just be normal...it has been so long since things have been this great. It sure sounds like you're going to be busy, Bailey. I'm attempting to ride in my University's Homecomming Parade. Well, I hope you all are well, and I'll "talk" with you soon!!!

Hey Amy,

I'm sorry to hear that you were turned down by that sorority. Always remember that Nu Sigma Rho needs lots of help too and you could make a major difference by establishing a satelite chapter in your area. Of course it's only a suggestion. And if you decide to pledge that sorority again I'm sure they won't be able to say no twice.

I'm going to make an appeareance at the Florida A&M Universiy homecoming program and game. I'm also going to do a few articles in the newspaper. Other things are being planned to. My goal is to speard the message about the Miss.Sparkle America organization to everyone. Hopefully Jasmine you'll have 50 people in each age division next year so be ready :). I've also begun working on the memory books. If anyone wants, you can start sending me pictures of your appearances or anything related to the pageant or a few personnal photos you would want to put in the memory book (but please provide a caption for each picture). You can mail the photos to:

The banquest was lovely and that wasn't even the end. The real hectic activity started today with welcome week in the residence halls when several first years are allowed to move in early and we provide several workshops and activities for them. It has been great serving as a role model. They know I love em.

I am so worn out. It was HOT today and I had traffic duty. There wasn't enough water in the area to keep me from thirsting. Then we played some icebreakers. After that we had dinner and the staff talent show (of which I was in four acts) and then casino night. Top it all off with potential boyfriend issues and you have a busybody sandwich with extra pickles. I'm completely worn out. Hi Bailey! Glad you could join us, yay! And on that note I hope all of you are doing super fantastic. It's beddy bye time for me.

Hi Faith, let me first ay that I am really honored that you have asked our opinions. Personally, I also feel that teenage pregnancy has gotten way out of control to the point that we as a society no longer care about it...this is good and bad. Teenage girls no longer face the ostricising that they once did, but we don't rush into try to stop it either. However; we all do what we think we should in these situations. She did show great courage in deciding to keep and then raise this baby. Yes, pageant queens should be role models, but in this day in age that does mean different things to different groups. She obviously knows that there are systems that she will not be able to compete in...that is simply the price for her decisions. That being said, there are pageants, like mail in comp., and ones that take into consideration adversity that she could compete in. If she is being a good mother and putting her child first as a mother should, that is a role model. She could inspire others to follow her example, and more children of teenage mothers would have better care. She will still face adversity in competing, not eveyone will agree with my ideas, but I think that if she does want to pursue this she should. I hope this helps a bit...its just my idea. I don't know, I just keep hearing the Bible quote in my mind "judge not lest ye be judged"... let me know what you think.

Hi Shauna! I am doing alright here...I'm just getting myself into school and now I'm redecorating a bedroom...its totally leopard. I love it!!!!!! Oh, I also decorated outside for Halloween already. Yes, its early, but my hubby and I LOVE the holiday. I have a 4 foot lighted inflatable pumpkin in the yard, and all kinds of other things. Well, I'll talk with you all soon...hope all is good.
Love,
Amy

I must admit I don't think she should be allowed to compete.I just don't think that teenagers should have children.Thats not the right enviorment for a child. If she's married thats different.I know that their are great single parents out there, thats great but no teenager should have a child.[Thats just my opinion] As a pageant winner and/or contestant you need to be a good role model. In the movie Beautiful she was just a single mother.I don't feel that there is truly a right or wrong answer because it's opinion. But I really feel that she should have been more responsable.I know that some teens are going to have sex anyway. But they shouldn't have children.I think she should forget about pageants until she's married and can compete in the Mrs.Division or just wait until she's atleast able to compete in Ms.I think that teen pregnancey isn't being looked at a serious anymore and it should be.I know of teens who have had children some are really bad parents and some are great but no matter what type of parent you are you shouldn't be a teen parent.Like I said this is just my opinion and I really wish the best for your friend. You seem like a great person so she must be too.

Just wanted to say hi and send my love to everyone!

This has been *such* a busy time for me! I'm working between 50-60 hours a week at a new job. Unfortunately, I don't think this position is going to work for me. Honestly, there isn't much work for my major where I am living now. I think I am going to back to school for my master's and go back to working part-time!

When I am not working, I am working on saving the Washington County Fair Queen and Princess competition. (It's being crushed by all these new rules and regulations, and I have been mailing campaign letters, sending press releases, and preparing my presentation for the last few weeks!)

Also, a friend of mine and I have been communicating about something recently, and I would like your advice. Because of no fault of her own (other than the decision not to have an abortion), she has a child. She really wants to compete in pageants, but, as a teenager, there are not many available to a person like her. Aside from following Minnie Driver's lead in "Beautiful," what advice might y'all have for her?

When I am ready to direct again, I think I am going to direct a teen event open to young ladies with children. That is an immense strength in and of itself!

Hrm... Well, back to the grindstone! Take care, ladies. Love you all!

Okay I feel like a goofball! Hi everybody, I am a nutcase. I have missed the entire competition. I" have been reading everybody's lovely messages and have been posting what I thought were fairly well thought out responses to everybody's comments. I've somewhat posted the messages but never "approved" any of them to post. It did not dawn on me until today that no one was recieveng the messages. Thats making the second part of my message seem even worse. I wanted to wish Melvatean good luck on the Mensa test. This is the silly part (I am taking the test also in the next month) if it was decided by who posts messages correctly I just flunked with flying colors. Well i had sent many of you individual messages to congratulate you on your wins, but at this point I cant quite remember what I said to everybody... Im so sorry:( Well regardless) congratulations to everybody. Good luck to everybody in your future endeavors. I hope that everyone is recovering from all of the Sept 11th memorials. I dont know about everyone else but Im feeling a new resolve to serve my country more..... starting now

Hi everyone, I wanted to check in and say hello...I hope that today you all are safe and with loved ones...this is a difficult day for us all, as a nation, and individually. I know that here in PA it is especially poignant.
For as devastating as the events of one year ago are, I choose to look at this day with pride...for in the midst of such tradgedy the true Spirit of America was witnessed...men and women gave their all to help their fellow Americans, THAT is AMERICA.
Like Shauna, I knew for years about this eminent danger (its what you study in poli sci) and I am so sorry it happened, but again, I am proud of the way we as a nation came together...I have seen first hand the goodness that lies in the human spirit in the aftermath of the disaster. SO above everything else, I am, have been, and will always be, PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN.

May God Bless you all, and keep you safe.

Love and Hope

I know this is probably the last thing you want to talk about.I'm going to be in my local news paper. The paper said that they were looking for their readers thoughts about september 11 to possibly be published and mine is one of them to be published here it is.

I was always the one out of everybody I knew who wore the shirts with the flag on them.I was always patriotic.I've always heard about Osama Bin Ladden and when I went to talk about him to friends they had no idea who I was talking about.I was always upset in the lack of interest my friends had in the news and their country.I know there are others out there that must know how I feel.I remember the first attack on the trade centers.[the car bombs] I remember being 13 and thinking oh my gosh I can't believe somebody would do this.I have to admit I wasen't surprized when September 11 happend.I was sickend and sadened that in 2001 such a horrific act would even be possible.I don't care if it's impossable but I still would like to believe that world peace could happen someday.September 11 brought us to our knees.I'm proud that we came together as a country.I remember momorial day of 2001 I did what I've done every year sence I could remember.I went to watch the annual parade that marches on highland ave.Barley anybody was there to watch.I remember when I was young you always had to get a spot to sit real early because the streets were packed.I was disgusted that only a few people went.I don't care how small the parade is.The amount of people marching doesn't matter. What matters is that you honor those who faught for us to be able to have the oppertunites we have today.I feel that September 11 brought out the well needed well deserved respect that the citicens of America should have for this country.I feel so bad for the families and friends of the victims and it's sad that such a sick thing had to happen for some people to egknowledge how great their country is.Im proud of the women and men fighting in afganistan.I'm also proud of all of the rescuers. What happend in Pennsylvania,Washington DC and New York will never be forgotten and/or forgiven.I get mad about this country a lot but I do know that we have it so much better then so many other countries.September 11 will always remind us of what we have and what we so sadly lost.
Shauna
On September 11 I went to the wake of a child hood friend. It was such a bad day.Everytime I hear about september11 I feel like crying but I'm not sure if it's because of the attacks or my friend. This is hard.I saw it all happen.I always watch the today show.

Hi ladies!!!!
Congrats Chauna, I am so happy for you and impressed!!! WHat an honor. As for the 4 year old, I watch my little niece who is that age...she happens to think she's 25, so I feel your pain!!!

Shauna I am soooooo proud of you still, and hey, I's take a shopping spree ANY day!! LOL

Now I must ask y'all for a favor...in your prayers and thoughts please keep my father in your hearts. We just found out today that he has Chrone's Disease and intestinal and possibly colon Cancer. Yes, its a blow, but he is a strong man, but it never hurts to have a little help from above. I can't tell you how wonderful it is to be able to discuss things like this with all of you...you give me an outlet, you know people I don't have to be strong for, and I love you all for that! I know he is scared...today is the first time in my 22 years that he has ever just simply for no apparent reason said he loved me; it floored me. That's how I know he is taking this all so bad. He lost his sister a year ago next month to these same diseases, and I know that's weighing on his mind. BUT I KNOW HE WILL BEAT IT!!! He's a strong man...that's where I get it from.

But on a different note...JASMINE WE MISS YOU!!!!! We all know you're working hard, but hopefully we'll hear from you this weekend...we all want to know how YOUR life is going...after all, you are the ultimate Sparkle Queen!!!!

Love you all!!!!
Amy

Hey Holly, I am praying for your family. I myself have had so many little things lately that I am eaten up with frustration right now. The main problem is my four year old. He keeps hitting, biting, disobeying, and trying to run his classroom. My husband and I are not agreeing on the correct manner of punishment, but that is another story. I hope all of you are doing well.

I may not be as active as I would like--it's like that with me, but people cross my mind and I just thank God I know them. Love has been a difficult thing to find and understand for me, especially loving myself. I know and I hope all you do as well, God loves you. I have to tell myself that because sometimes there are mean people out there.

I went to the fair pageant. The young lady I work with placed 1st RU. I was a bit shocked by the winner--didn't see it coming, but Erin did well. The division was 13-15 and she JUST turned 13. I also took photos with our Teen Miss Ar, Kara Luttrell. I actually taught her (and her brother)and she is a very wonderful young lady with a good head on her shoulders. She is excited because she will be going to the Miss America CEO to discuss a national teen pageant. (It stops at the state level because not every state has a pageant.)

Hugs and best wishes to you all. TTFN

Anyway, I would like to ask anyone of the state quuens, national queens or princesses how could i start making appearances, or what would be a good idea to begin representing Miss Sparkle Wisconsin title? Are there any forms of organizations that you suggest, or should i just go about with my usual appearances with my previous titles? Thank U so much!!!

Melvatean,

Thank you for your prayers. It will be a few weeks before I will find out the results, so I am keeping my fingers crossed. I am a member of the International High IQ Society. I have done well on my tests in the past, but joining MENSA has been a dream of mine for years, but oddly enough I never pursued it. After joining the Int'l High IQ Society, I contacted MENSA, and they just happened to be testing the next week, so I took a chance ! Good luck on your upcoming test.
Regarding apperances, I already volunteer with several charities, so I have donated my time to them as a titleholder. I also contacted the local pageants in my area, and donated my time there. I am going to do some work with the Ms Wheelchair Florida pageant, I offered to make apperances at the county fair, and believe it or not, I was asked to judge a female impersonater pageant ! I just try to stay in the public as much as possible. I contacted my city commissioner, and mayor to take photographs with them, and there is talk of a ceremony to present the key to the city to me. There are a lot of diffrent oppurtunities, you just have to pursue them.

Cherraye,I would love a memory book. How much would one be?
Jasmine I'm happy you had a good day at training.Everybody spells my last name wrong.[LOL]A lot of people spell Massachusetts the wrong way too.
Melvatean,You should look in the yellow pages under the different charities you would like to work with.I've always wanted to work for the special olympics. You could also keep checking with your local papers for upcoming events, thats what I do.I love parades. So I do some of those.I know a lot of people do charity walks.Amy won the community service award and she does a lot of different things with charities.I think charites would be great for making appearances with. That way you can really help people but like I said parades are fun too.

Kandy and I just wanted to say congratulation to all the winners and to everyone who entered that you are all awesome. Today is her first day back at school so it has been a busy couple of weeks for us. She has also been doing cheer and she had her first jamboree just over a week ago. The first official game is this coming Sunday. She really enjoys being out there with all the other girls and is doing really well. She was so excited when I told her about her win. It truely brightened her day. I will forward the link for the message board to her email account. She had it at one point, but I think it got deleted. She couldn't find it yesterday. Then she will be able to log in herself :)

I hope all of you have a great September weather it is "back to school" or just "another work week", make the most of it!

Hello Nicole. It would also be an honor if you would send me a bio and a recent picture of yourself so that I may place in my senior memory album. I would like to get to know you a little and I would also like to tell you a little about myself.

I'm still shocked. I've been reading over these messages over and over. It's 12:20 in the morning here in Florida, I'm just getting off of work and I have school tomorrow, but I just can't go to sleep. My heart is still heavy I can't believe it. I can't wait to tell my mother when she wakes up :). I already woke my sister when I first found out!!! Thank you so much Jasmine for staying in contact with me while I was at the military camp, at cheerleading camp, at work, at school, thank you so much. There should be an award for you and I'll make sure that you recieve a gift from me seeing how you've already given one to me. Thank you again. Hopefully I'll get a little sleep tonight. WOW

You are an extremely nice person and it shines through Shauna. Stay sweet!!!

I am so happy having been a part of something so nice. It has really helped me this week and I hope I can turn to you all through the year. I am so bummed out! I will attend our fair pageant tomorrow night--it will be my first dressy appearance as PPP Plus Ms. USA and I am weirded about it. I never thought I would ever actually win any kind of pageant but God blessed me this year. I guess wishes do come true. I hate not having one to look forward to, but my husband thinks I need to enjoy being a queen and now a princess! I will be 31 this week and I have loved pageants since I was 13. More than pageants though, I guess I love meeting people. Someday I hope to meet everyone I have ever emailed about pageants--it would be so cool.

Well, Conan wants the last of the watermelon--need to go!

Wheeeew! I JUST finished unloading all of my things and boy am I glad to be back on a T1 connection. That means I can make good use of time finishing up the website and uploading pics. I am so tired but I will have fun reading all of the posts.

All of you really made this year a joy. And I doubt you'll mind if I push next year's crowning back until September ; ) This is the second year I have announced the winners while doing the big move and I really wonder what sparked such an idea in the first place. LOL

I'm gonna get some rest but I'll keep posting every now and then. And don't forget I have to announce the recipient of the Miss Friendship award tomorrow along with some other goodies. Trust me...if I had bottomless pockets I'd just give and give and give. Surprises are FUN!

Take care for now and congratulations everybody. Felicia says hi!

CONGRATS HOLLY AND ERIKA AND AMY!!! All three of you sound super--Erika, you must know I think you are great! I am proud to be your princess! I don't know you personally Holly, but you seem to be radiant--absolutely shining with the blessings of life and all that God gives each of us. I must agree with the others when I say I hope to be just a fraction of the woman you are.

I want to keep doing this message board after all the official work is done--it is so great having this multi functioning, better than calling everyone, system. I have loved learning about so many of you and realizing how challenging each of our lives can be and how we continue to overcome obstacles that, hate to say it but it's true--Satan puts in our paths. Before I competed in PPP this summer my Bible study teacher told me that Satan would try to steal God's blessings if I let him. One day I was so mad and upset about the whole pageant and traveling that I went out and mowed the whole yard while I cried and prayed and told Satan to leave me alone!!! Even on the way out of the drive to go to Atlanta I wrecked my van, but I looked up to God and smiled!!! That's what we have to do--smile because we should know that each of us is a winner and a wonder to God and we shouldn't let anyone or anything ever make us think differently. You might for a second, but then remember...YOU ARE GREAT and through adversity that greatness prevails!

Well, I'll get off my soapbox. I didn't mean to get carried away, but I do find sometime people overlook that which God brings into our lives. I think we have been using a unique opportunity to share ourselves and our burdens with each other. Through the years I have learned that the sharing eases and releases the feelings we wish we didn't have, but they are natural and part of who we are and should not be locked away and be ashamed of. Sharing them helps others overcome as well. No one is ever alone and pageant sisters need to stick together!!!!

I must go clean up things--the van is unpacked and the kitchen and the laundry room are full :(

It is a fact that many beauty queens are not only lovely but intelligent as well. And while I have not included this as a mandatory category, it is a must as an optional.

I believe that education is definitely an important part of anyone's life and it should be a priority to recognize those who rise above and beyond the mortar board stars and consistently reach for other worldly achievements. The winner of this year's award for academic achievement is...

***Amy Waddingham-Bosko***

Amy has maintained a 4.0 GPA at her university and plans to graduate in 2003 as a Political Science major and specialized minors in the fields of East Asian Studies, International Affairs, and History. Congratulations and keep it up! We're rootin' for ya!

Hi,Thanks for a wonderfull pageant.Funny you mentioned before how we were born on the same day a year apart.I was born at 9:49 am on a Thursday we were almost born at the same time of day.I too grew up in a poor family.I remember sometimes I was so happy my hand could fit in the peanut butter jar so I could get what a spoon couldn't.Thankfully when I got into Jr high it wasen't that bad anymore.
You should definitly try pointe.I walk around my house all day practicing.People say it taks years to learn but with determination it doesn't take that long at all.I love Ballet.I wasen't able to do it when I was a kid because we didn't have the money.I really really understand a lot of what you must have went through. My mom was never into me being in pageants but then again she's not really supportive.[I'm really not trying to talk bad about my mother, she did go through everthing to bring me in this world]So I started pageants in 2001.
KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK,TELL FELICIA WE ALL SAY HI.IF YOU EVER NEED ANYTHING JUST ASK.

Ok I feel SOOOOOOO weird. Classes begin on the 17th but tomorrow I have to move back into the dorms. Then on the 3rd I begin a two week training process for my job as the new WATCH Intern. (WATCH Patrol is the student residence hall security crew and I was promoted to Intern which is pretty much head cheese in charge) I am excited and nervous and scared of new responsibilites but I will make it through.

I plan to decorate my bulletin board with plenty of Nu Sigma Rho stuff in the hope of drawing more interest. Later on if any of you think you might be interested in applying, and I'm almost certain you'll be welcome among our ranks, please do! There will be a lot more about the organization up in the near future.

Shauna you taught yourself pointe?! You GO girl! I have always wanted to do that and it's still on my list.

And since everyone is doing a bit of introduction, I will share a bit about my background as well...

I was born in California to my father, a struggling photographer, and my mother, a nurse on Friday, December 4 in the hour of the Dragon (8:05 am). When I was born I let out the loudest wail anyone had ever heard then I fell right asleep, leading the doctor to believe I was dead. All of the babies in the nursery were crying their eyes out but I was sound asleep. To this day I like to sleep in, especially on Friday mornings.

After two days of being home with my parents they laid me before my grandmother's feet and proclaimed "Please take her! We can't do this after all." And from that day I lived with my grandparents and two aunts. My mother would come to leave my father and live there as well. It was not a stable home. There was lots of yelling and not much money to go around but we managed. It was the kind of home everyone says will turn a child into a delinquent but it never happened.

I always loved pageants even though my family doesn't. They told me it was just a phase but it's still going strong. I will always be an advocate for the positive side of pageantry. So I understand as many others do that there's just something about a crown that acts as a key to another world, a better world. I hope to one day take Miss Sparkle America live and when that happens you best believe it's going to be something special : )

I think growning up an only child in a home like mine where religion can turn against you, it really gave me the chance to do a lot of soul searching and gave me a strong desire to learn about the world around me and to reach out to others, especially those like yourselves who shine unto the world as a beacon of hope for the future. So if I really have anything to say it's thanks. Thanks for keeping me sane. Thanks for giving me something to do. Thanks for standing up against those who seek to destroy that which has really blossomed into something special. Pageantry is special...and I plan to work to preserve the best of it for as long as time will allow.

This post is already getting long and I have a call coming in so I will make another one soon...very soon. Love you guys.

Hi, Everyone! In less than 24 hours, I will no longer be Ms. Sparkle-America. But, that's okay, because I know the new queens will do a great job of carrying on the tradition!
This title has meant more to me than you will ever know. It's lifted my spirits many times this year. (It's hard to be cranky or down when you remind yourself you are Ms. Sparkle-America!)
On September 11th, though, being Ms. Sparkle America was the LAST thing on my mind when the World Trade Center came down. At the moment, pageantry seemed so insignificant. But, in the following days, it seemed, Americans were even more determined to cling to traditions, much like those firefighters clung to that American flag at Ground Zero. Remember the push to get people back to watching plays on Broadway? That went over well, because people needed to smile again. And, in the same way, pageants and beauty queens are part of our great country's tradition of beauty and variety.
One of the most depressing things about this summer, to me, were all the kidnappings. As a mom, every report on a missing child really got me down. Then, one day, after being bothered by this, I came across an old pageant program of mine, full of beautiful women in evening gowns and crowns. It was so refreshing, and immediately put a smile back on my face. Never underestimate the power of cheering folks up! It's been great being part of this wonderful tradition of pageantry. Jasmine and Felicia-congrats on a job well done, with many more contestants than last year. To all the contestants, you seem like amazing women! Shine on, and God bless!

Alright, I have reached a breaking point, and I am turning to you all as my new friends to prevent me from committing puppycide!!!! This new kitchen floor is more of a challenge than I thought it would be, and it does not help that both of the dogs have decided today that they MUST be glued to my feet...they're like my shadow! Oh, the joys of being a momma...at least the cats are behaving. Yes, I am running a zoo here LOL. Okay, I'm better now.

I miss read Jasmine's last note, and thought she said Saturday afternoon, not Sunday, so I guess I got my self all nervous for nothing...it just gives me something to do tomorrow :) My husband will be home, so I can bug him about it all day! He's good about those things.

Well, there is a power sander with my name on it just waiting to be used, so now I must turn into my alter-ego...Bob Villa. Wish me (and the doggies) Luck!!!

OH MY GOD, Amy I would love it if we all could get together and go to Hawaii and see Mandy.I'll dream with you.[LOL]You can definitely understand what I'm going through.A lot of people with manic depression get anxiety and panic attacks.I had asthma when I was a little kid, though they weren't as bad as you get them I can sort of understand what they must have felt like.
WOW Holly thats great I hope to someday do for panic attacks what you're doing for Cancer.
Faith you should email me some time we could help each other out.Dance has helped me soooo much it's unbelievable.Even though the classes aren't far away just the fact that I can make it there and do something I love helps me a lot.Sometimes I have to miss some classes because of the panic attacks[PA's].It's really hard to live a normal life where you can just go out and do everything you want to do and/or even try. They started when I was too young to take control of them myself so now I'm trying to take my life back. It's hard but I'm trying.
Well I have to go for now.HUGS AND LOTS OF LOVE - SHAUNA

Faith, here's a little adivce...holiday weddings are great and beautiful, but they are VERY hectic...4 days after CHristmas was almost too much to handle. But we got through it and it was everything I hoped it would be and more! My favorite part was leaving the Pittsburgh Airport where it was only 5 degrees outside and landing in sunny Florida!

Okay ladies, I've said before and I'll say it again:

HELLO EVERYONE. I AM 60 YEARS YOUNG, A PHOTOJOURNALIST FOR VARIOUS NEWSPAPERS AND MAGAZINES, AND A PAGEANT JUDGE. I DO PAGEANTS MYSELF TO MEET NEW FRIENDS, TRAVEL, SPEND QUALITY TIME WITH MY FAMILY, HAVE FUN, AND TO REMIND MYSELF HOW MUCH CREDIT EACH PERSON DESERVES BECAUSE IT IS VERY DIFFICUTLT TO GET UP THERE ON THAT STAGE OR TO WRITE COHERENTLY FOR MAIL-IN PAGEANTS.

I AM PROUD TO SAY I AM A 17 1/2 YEAR CANCER SURVIVOR. {THANK YOU GOD} I AM THE CO-MANAGER OF THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY TRAVELING TROUPE. Hey, all...
Good luck, good luck, good luck!! It was so tough for me to vote for Miss C. I found out about the pageant late, and had to rush to enter!! From what I've read, I think everyone here really deserves it.
Go Nu Sigma Rho sisterhood! :-) I think that's what it's all about.

Amy: I stopped by your wedding site today! Sooo cute! I love the Christmas theme! I'm thinking about doing a holiday theme for my wedding, too. Or, at least for some of it. Planning a wedding is so fun, and so much work! So many decisions. Lol. Mine isn't until 2005 or so, but definitely in the works. I'm already nervous!

Chauna: You are absolutely glowing!!! Congrats, girl!

Shauna and Mandy: You are both such remarkable, strong young women! On a personal note (that I can't believe I am posting on the world wide web!), I get PAs, too. What started as perfectionism (lol) blew up in junior year of high school, and then peaked last year, when I was directing. I (stubborn Aries Irish redhead!) decided that was it, and while I knew I couldn't get over them completely, I wouldn't let them run my life.
I took a year to re-evaluate and heal. I don't know that mine are as overwhelming as yours, though. As you know, every day can be a struggle, though. Because, at least for me, I never know what's going to bring them on. Does dance help you? I find the only things that really ever help me keep the attacks and swings in check is yoga and exercise. Maybe we can help each other out.

Erika: How did you do on the MENSA test?!

See? I'm writing a novel, too! Lol. Catching up!
Well, I am a writer! ;-) I love all the arts! The up-to-date news in my life is that I recently graduated college with a B.S. in communications and just earned a job managing two businesses. (I've only been there a little over a week, and it's so much to handle! It's a lot of fun, it's just difficult to absorb everything during peak weeks!) Like Jasmine, I am in the process of moving, too. Today and tomorrow, actually. Other than that, I am working to help save a pageant I've been involved with since 1994, which recently was "suspended" due to a conflict of interest that could prove to undue all the progress (more camraderie, prizes, contest improvements, and more appearances) that has been achieved since new directors took over with love in 1995. It's a really long story, but my friend who directed the competition (and might again soon, with luck and prayer!) is absolutely heartbroken that people who finance the competition would throw all of her hard work out the window like they did.

I need to go and run to the bank!
Much love to everyone!

Well, keeping with the posting traditions, I'm going to tell ya'll a bit about myself now, too...ready or not here it comes!!!

I was born with severe Asthma and spent a lot of time growing up in and out of hospitals, that's where I get my deep sense of community involovement. I remember all those that helped me and I want to give back. I didn't begin pageants until I was 18, I had always been very self-conscious, but I figured what he heck. I LOVE THEM NOW!!! I have done both live and internet pageants, and my "biggest" title was Miss PA American COed 1999. As you can all tell from my letters, I am married, 8 months now. I am a Senior at Slippery Rock University where I am working towards my Bachelor's Degree in Political Science with specialized honors minors in East Asian Studies, History, and International Relations. Nice combo, huh?
I enjoy just about anything you can think of, fishing and camping are real high on my list, I love being out in mother nature...and as I said, I have a passion for cars (and Dale Earnhardt JR). As you all know from my earlier writings, the first few months of my married life sucked...chicken pox, pneumonia, and a car accident. So Mandy, now I REALLY know what you're going through (by the way my mom wishes you her best and is still praying for you)
We lost our breaks on the highway and ended up plowing into a tree at 65 miles an hour. I broke both legs in 8 different places, shattering my ankle, cracked my skull, severed the main artery in my temple, and had my scalp sheared off to the skull about 6 inches...but I'm doing much better now!!!
I work alot with victim advocate organizations, especially those concentrating on vicitims of violent crimes. My husband (he's only 2 years older than me) married his high school sweetheart a year after they graduated, and while he was out to sea (he was in the Navy at the time) she was brutally murdered by 8 men. So that life experience has shaped a great deal for us both. He absolutely amazes me...he is one of those poeple that you KNOW God put on this earth to show just how resilient the human spirit is.
I more than understand about the panic attacks, and it is very unfortunate your mom isn't as supportive as you need her to be. I myself am Manic Depressive, so I can relate to what you are going through...I have found that you really DO have to take one day at a time and concentrate on what is going to help you feel better, not everyone else.
Do ya'll know enough yet? Have I scared you away? I sure hope not. I figured I'd tell you all these not so nice things because they are a big reason why I am the opposite...Life is too short to dwell on the past and the what ifs, when you get lemons, make lemonade!!!!
Well, I will spend the next few hours as will everyone else patiently waiting for the big results!!! GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!!! THis has been fun, and I can't wait to do it all again next year!

Love and Smiles!!!!

Amy

Have a great time Chauna, let us know how the MS pageant goes,it sounds like lots of fun.Being a teacher must be great.
Mandy I think thats such a great idea,we should all say something about ourselves, not just because of the great new award but also because we will all get to know each oher better. My prayers are definitely with you.
Lets see I've very boring.Sence I've suffered from having a sensitive nervous system that couses me to have really bad panic attacks I haven't been able to do much and basically the panic attacks are most of my life.I love to make things I make all kinds of things including dolls.I can't travel to pageants because of the [WE WILL CALL THEM ,PA'S]so I really like mail in pageants.I haven't done too many. When I was in ninth grade I tried out for the JV cheerleading team and I was traded onto the Varsity team the day of try outs.Sadly I had to leave the team when PA'S forced me to leave school. For about a year or two I couldn't go any further then the front of my house.[My mother isn't too supportave of me,just in case you were wondering why I never got the right help to make me better]My older sister is my biggest support system.I LOVE HER SO MUCH.Never underestimate the love between siblings.Well with the help of my friends little by little I started getting better.I'm still not able to go to school full time and hold down as full time job.I'm a petite [5'5]model.Modeling is flexable enough for me to do it.I refuced to sign the papers to quit school so I'm in a program that will give me my high school diploma.I thought my I.Q was 130 but when I took the test resently I found out it was 146.[GO ERIKA,GOOD LUCK,YOU HAVE TO LET US KNOW HOW YOU DO,WHEN WILL YOU FIND OUT?]I'm very happy about that.I want to go to college as soon as I finish getting my diploma.I want to major in Political Science and Astrophysics. There is a pageant coming up at a local mall this coming Friday[September 6th]I hope to be able to make it there so I can compete but I'm not sure if I can make it there because of the PA's.I'm blessed to have panic attacks.though they are really bad I could have something worse.I never take a day for advantage.I know there are people out there who suffer from Cancer,MS,Lupus,Aids,If I named all of the really bad illnesses I would be here for ever.Though lots of people over come these illnesses they go through a lot.I'm very greatful for all that I have.I'm so so so so sorry for the novel.I look forward to reading about all of you.
On a happier note I'm engaged to a great guy who sponsored me in this pageant, and who lives really close by.[LOL]
HAVE A GREAT SATURDAY LOTS OF HUGS AND LOVE,SHAUNA

Given the ratio of how many announcements have been made to how many are left, I have decided to announce the winner of this year's community service award.

This plaque will go to a woman who is very deserving and dedicates almost countless hours to such projects as the Special Olympics, AIDS Walk, Student Tutoring, and the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, just to name a few.

And the award goes to:

***Amy Waddingham-Bosko***

Keep it up Amy. Your work is an important part of MANY people's lives and serves as a motivator to many others. I am personally inspired by those who take the time to reach out and find myself doing the same when I can.

Amy...that is the most honorable award to receive EVER...you truely receive much more than you give when you volunteer...just taking time out of your day to paint/color a picture with a child at the hospital for example makes a WORLD of difference to not only to them but to you too, because you get to hear the stories about them and there lives, but you also gain a new friend!!

Amy that is so special...CONGRAT'S!!!

Hey! We are OUT the door, but I had to sit down and read all the postings--I LOVE THIS!!!! I always wanted a penpal I had something in common with (the one I had was nine when I was thirteen!) I feel like I am really getting to know everybody. If I ever win a lottery, I want to get everyone I know through pageants together and just have a fashion show/party with whimsical prizes!!!! We are having a MS. Disorder pageant as a gag in out Junior Chamber group. I will be Ms. OCD (Obesessive Compulsive Disorder), my girlfriend is going as Ms. ADHD!

I am so proud of my husband Patrick. He took pictures of me all summer with his new digital camera. He has really been super. I hate that I am going out of town, I could sit here all day!!!

Hey Shauna!!! I love your name--don't know where my parents found mine with the "C," it helps though when I can't pronounce a student's name because I make him or her try mine. You should hear what I get!

My husband said I could not get another vehicle for awhile--I told him Conan, our son, would be ten when I pay this one off--then I want a convertible!!! I'd settle for a Jeep. I want something fun, but I do love my new Mercury Villager. I have two now because I wasn't going to just give the old one away! That also means I get to buy new tags! I want my name on them--I hope no one else is CHAUNA!!!

I am getting pressure to go--you are all sooooo great!!! Pageants have saved my live. I was so depressed after loosing a child and pageants helped me discover myself and my usefulness to others. I must admit that even though we aren't together in person--this is the best pageant I have been associated with. I had an interesting time at the live one I did this summer. Making three new friends was really the best thing from it--I LOVE YOU ERIKA AND ANGELA. (I emailed Karen as well.) Have a safe holiday!!!!

Good luck everyone! God blesses us all!!! Chauna

Hey sweetie,

I LOVE YOU TOO !!!!!!! Congrats on the new van. I remember that you just had to drop a load of money on it in July. I wish you luck with the new one. I have a sugeestion for the tag, perhaps others here can also suggest....how about Miss Chauna USA, or something similar. It should deal with pageantry.

Congrats to both you and Patrick for winning Ms Photogenic. I guess that makes him Mr Photographer. Either way, he has a great eye, and has been taking some wonderful pics of you.

Well honey I hope you have a great and wonderful trip.

Erika

Well this should be my last Saturday morning post. I told ya I was full of surprises. ; )

I will not be announcing the new royalty on Saturday. I have decided to wait until Sunday afternoon. Yes I know it's cruel but don't worry. I have something to keep you busy until then...

I will be sending out a global e-mail to all of you and you may read it before you get to this post. Either way, I need you to respond to it ASAP because THIS year we will be naming a congeniality queen.

Miss Friendship will recieve:

~A Special Tiara
~Satin Sash
~Commemorative Plaque

For the voting, let us assume that you all already have one vote for yourself. Take some time to think about it and vote for the one delegate who not only has been a contributor to the message board, but someone who really embodies the spirit of the Miss Sparkle America version of Friendship. What is that exactly? I think you already know. You can just feel it. I know I have but it is up to you to decide.

Two more notes. Chauna's photos are available for viewing on the new royalty page and also, instead of a plaque the photogenic winner will recieve a lovely trophy with an insert of the winning pic! *SURPRISE*

Congrats Chauna...I want to see the pictures!!!!! Anyways, I can't believe I won Community Service, Mandy you're right, THAT is the best award because it doesn't give me alone a feeling of happiness, those I had the priviledge to work with gained it, too. Those experiences blessed me. THANK YOU so much!

Logan I read all the great things about you. I am a car fanatic myself...my uncle owns an exotic car dealership, and I've driven that model, you know perks...I love it Ilove it I love it!!! I would be bugging him for a deal on one, but I got my new one last year. Living in the wondeful mountains of Pennsylvania, 4 wheel drive is a MUST! So I got a Ford Escape, I can't complain. We have a little more in common...due to health reasons I was homeschooled for parts of high school, and like you it gave me more time for pageants and family. Anyways, I am quite proud to have a King for the pageant...just shows that pageantry isn't just a way to degrade women, it is a way to celebrate friendship and true beauty!!!!!

Jasmine, don't work too hard moving! I recently moved into our new home and I know how hard it is to get carried away (As I was moving in the house I also decided to decorate for Christmas, THAT is craziness). I must say, running the pageant finals and moving at the same time is quite impressive, not to mention factoring in all the other great things you are doing. SO, for all of the fabulous work you are doing now, and have been doing for all of us...
THANK YOU, CONGRATULATIONS, AND YOU ARE THE ULTIMATE WINNER!!!!

We've all posted a comment to this effect, that you and your cousin have really done a fabulous job keeping us informed, keeping your word, and providing a fun interactive pageant experience. I have definately enjoyed all of this.

Okay, I'll stop now, I promise...here we go ladies, good luck, and remember, we are all winners!!!

Pageant Love and Smiles!!!!

I hope you're all happy...the judges now need kleenex to do their work because apparently this is NO easy job. I think all of you have ruined them for any future judgings. Keep up the good work ladies.

Have a wonderful labor day weekend everybody! I will be moving so I get to lug my 19" monitor all the way up to the 3rd floor of Palmitas Hall. I'm sweating already.

You guys are so awesome. I've been doing a little peeking at your materials. Just over your intros and I discovered that Shauna C's birthday is December 4, 1980 and MY birthday is December 4, 1981. I love meeting semi-twins!

And you have GREAT taste Logan! *I* wanted to get a red Spyder myself but the salesman kept dragging me over to the Lancer. All of a sudden I had three parents at the dealership instead of two.
He kept saying things like, "No no no you don't want THAT car. That car is for pleasure. You want a car for school and work and that's it. Do you have ANY idea how that will make your insurance shoot through the roof?!"

Anyway the expression on my face was classic. I've decided to go with a Honda Insight for now. Sure it's only got 85 HP but the mileage is sweet and so is the tax credit and for a college student the price is a lot better. But you can bet when I graduate..BOO-YAH! It's Spyder time. But in the meantime you'll give me a lift in yours, right Logan? Hehehe. Get used to hearing THAT.

Hello Everyone ~ my name is Logan. I just turned 17 on July 27, 2002. I am a High School Junior ~ however ~ since I had a badly ruptured appendix 10 years ago, I have been ill. I am home~schooled. It is a good thing, because I can take off and go to pageants with my sister and mother. I love traveling and making new friends.

I like wrestling and working on cars. I plan to purchase a Mitsubishi Eclipse Spider Convertiable in the next couple months.

We are going to Flordia and the Bahama's on a cruise. Should be a lot of fun!

Best of Luck to ALL of you. You are all beautiful inside and out! Thank you Miss Jasmine and Miss Felicia for awarding me this WONDERFUL HONOR! I look forward to representing the Sparkle America System. I already have FOUR Christmas Parades lined up.

Hello Everyone !

I just wanted to take a minute to say Happy Labor Day to everyone. I hope you all have a safe and happy weekend. I personally have not made any concrete plans, but a bad day at home is always better than a good one at work !

Also congrats to Logan, what a cutie ! Wow time is ticking down until the announcements....I can't wait ! One last good luck to all of you ladies before tommorrow.

Have a great weekend !

Congrats King Logan and Dahlia!!!!!!

Okay, the pressure is mounting...do we all have nails still? And surprises up Jasmine's sleeve...sounds interesting!

As for Labor Day Weekend, my fun will be finishing putting this kitchen floor down, and then the day I have been hardly waiting for...Tuesday when my mother -in - law picks up her dog!!!! I love him, but for a little Chihuahua he sure makes a huge MESS!! (Last time I try to score brownie points with the inlaws !)

Well, talk with you all soon!!!! And GOOD LUCK!!!!

Smiles,
Amy

I just want to say how good it makes me feel to hear your words of encouragement. I want nothing more than to do my job well and your kindness means a lot to me.

Also, just seeing everyone try to contribute on this board and make the most of it truly embodies part of the spirit of this competition and I'm tremendously glad.

And while I am on the subject of being a director, one of the best parts of the job and also of being founder (Felicia says HI!) is that when it comes to the prizes and awards I can pretty much do as I please and if I want to add an award or two, that's completely up to me.

To be perfectly honest though I'm not certain what it will be just yet but I have something up my sleeve! OH! Speaking of great surprises, we have an honorary KING this year. I have wanted to have a male division for quite sometime but I decided to wait until the Miss Sparkle numbers grew a bit.

King Logan's picture should be available on the New Royalty page shortly and from what his mother tells me, he's got a lot of heart; a definite prince worthy of a promotion. I am honored to have him represent the opening of our male division next year. Perhaps he will be kind enough to grace us with some courtly words on the message board.

I think that is it for now. Keep the excitement up! Wooo!

-Jasmine

Ok ok ok! The time difference is probably killing you since many of you are on the east coast but after some strenuous judging, we have a winner for best essay:

Congratulations to:

***Dalhia Perryman***

This was a really really really tough decision on behalf of the judges. The essays were SO good. I'm proud. I'd like to take a piece from each of them and post their words of encouragement on the site later on.

I was hoping she would post before I did and introduce herself but I am sure she will soon. Dalhia is representing Florida in the Miss Division and I'm sure she'll have more to say when she visits the message board. Congratulations Dalhia!

Hey you gals! I am sooo out of your loop. I don't watch hardly any tv except cartoon network--I have a four year old. You all have been busy today and I really enjoyed reading all of the teen pageant updates--I wish I could have seen the pageant. On the computer shopping/ebay note: I was bidding on a gown and now I am out bid, I tried two more bids, but the buyer must have a high price loaded. My husband is buying me a new minivan and I promised no more shopping until I pay off my Mastercard. I was set for the dress prior to the van unless I was outbid--and I was. I'll take it as a reminder from God not to rush too much. I really want a white gown to wear to PPP next year to give away my crown in anyway. I also gave up pageants for a whole year to get the van. It really wasn't that hard to do, PPP was only my second live one--Pat didn't say no to internet pageants, but I have learned to go with people you can trust and Jasmine is SUPER! I love knowing you!

Congrats to ERIKA--I think your webpage is great! I'd like to get one, but I really don't know what I would put on it.

Does anyone have any experience directing live pageants? Is it hard? Costly? I am getting myself involved with possibly doing one, but I have to sign a contract that ties me to making sure I have about $3000 to send three delegates. Please email me your experiences and advice phoward@cox-internet.com TTFN

Oh, wow, what a small world!!!! I did see all of the GMA stuff on tv...I have continued to compete in April's Pageants, the last one, Mid- Atlantic Miss, I had to drop at the last minute becasue my husband and I were in a VERY bad car accident. I just got out of the wheelchair about a month and a half ago...Isn't physical therapy great?!?! Anyways, how is your mom, she is just so great. April just had he baby earlier this month, I am so happy for her.

Yes, I did get married, December 29, 2001. It was so perfect. I of course had a pageant wedding. Married life is great as far as my hubby goes, but we have had the WORST luck!!!! Two days after we got home from our Honeymoon I came down with the chicken pox...its true what they say about it being bad to get them when you are older...I was sick for 2 1/2 months, and spent three weeks in the hospital, then my sweetie had walking pnemonia, and then, the car accident...but life is much smoother now, we figured we'd get all the bad things done with right away:)

I have had SOOOOOOOO much fun with this pageant, especially the message board today.

Okay, I have some great news, and NO One in my family is home, and I have to tell someone, so I am telling all of you guys.... my cousin who was my maid of honor got engaged last night!!!! I am so happy for the both of them. Her ring is about 2 carats, and he is so sweet, life is good...

Great talking to ya Mandy, we'll have to chat more, later!!!

Lots of Love,
Amy

You know what I JUST realized? Amy...we met at the America's Brilliant Miss Pageant in Myrtle Beach a couple years ago...WOW! I am glad we have the oppurtunity to get in contact again...so...HOW have you been? What have you been up to? I would LOVE to talk to you...there is so much to talk about...Oh, did you hear about April's pageant this year? the "Good Morning America" TV show sent about 20 people down to Charleston to film the ENTIRE weekends competition! {that is where it was/is} And guess what? I WAS ON IT!!!! They promoted the pageant world as an excellent way to get self esteem AND because there were about 8 or 9 mother-daughter teams, {which YES my mother and I were one of them!!} they promoted that it was a way to spend QUALITY time with your family. All and all it was an excellent show...Anyways...I better get going...OH, I almost forgot...CONGRAT'S on winning the BEST ESSAY! BYE BYE ~ your pageant sister and friend...MANDY
