Thought I'd drop in and see what was happening with everyone. Hang strong Shelly and Heather!

Well, it's been 100+ days since my addict has been home. He has been clean for 17 months now. He has gotten his parole in Illinois (incarcerated in Iowa), and his parole officer loves my attitude with this entire thing. He's been dropped once by his parole officer and passed. He is in the process of doing the normal required B.S. that parole asks...like calling in (we don't have a landline so he goes to our church for that), trying to get drug and alcohol evaluation scheduled (they have changed his appointment twice now), and whatever else they require of him....

Our boys are doing fantastic. Our oldest, now 33 months, has become much more complacent now that Daddy is home and being good. He talks up a storm now, and takes very good care of his little brother....sometimes he forgets I'm the Mom.

Our youngest, now almost 18 months, got very used to having a Daddy around almost instantly. He is coming along in leaps and bounds now since he has three people to dote on him.

Our marriage is doing pretty good...I say jump, and he asks how high? lol...no really. Unfortunately the majority of his life has been in prison, and he has been directed on what to do and when to do it...so I have to direct him quite often...but he's doing pretty good on the slow change to realizing he is an adult that must take charge of a situation, and do things before someone tells him it has to be done.

We are active in our church, and both trying to find employment...not easy for him having no high school diploma and so many felonies on his record. Not easy for me having not worked outside of the home since 1999. But we both have faith that God has given our family a second chance and are doing everything we can to keep it that way.

My hubbie has no want to do drugs again, and likes the way things have ended up. He also knows I won't put up with it again. The people at our church have been very good to us as we are the type of people that can teeter either way, and they know it is their responsibility as christians to help us stay the course.

I thank God every day for having favor for my boys and bringing their daddy back to them. I know it would never have happened without His intervention.

I pray for those of you still in turmoil to have the strength to do what it is God wants you to do. Victory in Jesus!
