Wanting to quit is one of the first steps, admitting your an addict is the next, so your on the right track. Your desires to be a better grandmother are genuine, but that is not why you have to quit. You have to quit getting high for YOU!!!! You have to need some changes in your life, for you!!!!! You are the addict, you have to make a decision to change, to quit, to live longer, healthier, and happier. Your family and friends will see changes in you, you have good days and bad days, they will be there for you. Does your dad know you are an addict? Have you sat down with him and explained your addiction, and how it makes you feel and act? This is a very important part of your recovery. Mending relations with friends and family will come with time. Right now this is all about you!! Do you get high alone, or with someone? Sometimes cutting yourself off from the people who are influencing you helps, meetings help, and god helps, if you ask. You are the only one who can do this for you!!!! Just make up your mind, and never, never look back. Get rid of all your drug using tools, clean every single thing out that reminds you of drugs! Find the time to read the bible!!! Every time you feel like getting high, go to your bible, flip it open and read, read, read. The urge will subside and you can focus on other stuff, like sewing or babysitting or whatever. I don't know if this will help you any, I can only sugjest these ideas. I have been an addict for 16 years. I had no control over my addiction, my addiction controlled me. I had to go to jail before I quit, before I found my bible, and before I could start my recovery. I have been clean, and I mean squeaky clean for seven months. I will never go back to where I have been, I am thankful to be alive and sobriety is awesome.
