All you need for a restraining order is a history of abuse. You usually fill out a petition (like a police report), list all of the times in the past he has been abusive. Try to be specific, dates if you can remember. I am not surprised that he didn't tell his mother the truth, this way she can still enable him. Aslo you can put in the restraining order that he is not allowed to use others i.e. his mother, Bernie, or anyone else to try to contact you or the kids.

Get the restraining order!!! He needs to still know that his behavior is unacceptable. He hasn't earned the right or the privledge of being around his children.

I am sorry that this is still a fight for you. Just remember to keep your boundaries. You are doing the right thing!!
