Psychometry. Touching objects and working out the past of them. I don't know about spirits being attached to them, but there you go. A lot of tests have been done trying to prove whether it is a genuine psychic phenomenon, to the extent that the FBI had a woman in to see if they could use it to catch killers. It worked under the test conditions but I haven't heard much about it since, so they probably got bored of her. Shame.
