Actually, I have just learnt something from you - I had not realised that half the leaders were for Yeshua. Yes of course the Bible does say the leaders were divided. I don't think Yeshua looked surprised because a leader stood up for Him, but because Nicodemus was the one who was scared to be seen talking to Him - he came at night to discuss things with Him. In a way though, maybe we shouldn't be arguing the case at all - in truth we cannot name anyone in the human race who had no responsibility! I know that one has to, in one way, because Jews have been blamed by Christians. It is ironic I think, that it is the NT letter to the HEBREWS, that says Yeshua's Blood "speaks better things than the blood of Abel"!! Which is the true answer to all the arguments, even Matthew reporting that some of the Jews said "Let His Blood be on us...etc" because whereas blood on one's hands speaks of guilt, the Blood of Yeshua is a Revolution - if you have His Blood sprinkled on you, it dissolves every vestage of guilt - no matter who! It is so devilish to make out the Precious Blood is something that could ever possibly condemn ANYBODY. There is a verse in Acts - which I can't remember - that says everbody put Yeshua to death. I think it mentions Gentiles, Jews, Leaders et al! But - Oh G-d please - let the Spirit of Yeshua give us all the ability to see the power of this wonderful Blood that alone can deliver all of us from the doom our sins should have brought on us - and to speak out about it! Of course, the Cross is not an easy subject for Christians either! Which is why a lot of evangelical Christians have been appalled by the film - it makes us all FEEL guilty at first, but as we receive and learn about it from G-d, we begin to realise we are not condemned by it but delivered!
