Golden gaze lifted back towards Brechin. Nothing was said for a moment in silent contemplation. Graz stopped eating, most of the meat gone anyways, and fluttered over to his wolven friend. When she finally spoke, Letha's voice was louder again, but still held a trace of uncertianty.
"Back when I was member to my other pack, on the first night that the members had assembled, drawn together by the call of the Drappa, we took out a neighboring pack. I do not remember how many I killed. I do not really remember the fight itself. I only remember what I let loose in my own mind, like a cannon ball of fire through my veins as I saw the splash of scarlet stain the ashen ground."
She paused a moment, simply letting the images f
ilter through the male's mind before she continued on.
"Later that night, we were givin our dens in the volcano that was the heart of the lands. No one was allowed to be outside in the day, so it was spent in that monster of a mountian. As I rested in the shadows of my cavern, I fell asleep. A dream came to me in that sleep.
I remember being somewhere outside the volcano; in the forest of burnt timber and ash soil; under the sea of dark clouds that always burned crimson at night by the glow of lava that ran in great and small veins alike through the lands.
It was there I saw a great, muscular fiend, their jaws held tightly around the neck of a young pup that looked almost exactly like the killer. Both of them I seemed to recognize, but couldn't quite figure out who they were. When the pup finally died, the monster let go and looked up, amber eyes glinting with the deepest darkness I've ever known, and it was then I realized who it was, both adult and pup. 'At last, I am finally rid of you!' was all she said before she turned back for the volcano that was her home.
However, what the killer didn't see, I did. Next to her, before she had gone, stood the figure of the pup. It held no expression as they stared straight at me and simply said this:
'Even when the darkness of night claims rule to the skies,
it cannot banish the moon and stars.
Even when shadow and smoke fill the skies,
they only hide the moon and stars.
Even when the light of day claims rule to the skies,
it cannot banish the shadows.
Even when the sun and light fill the skies,
they only hide the shadows.'
Then they turned and went, following after her killer like an unseen shadow..."
Again, the wolfess stopped to let the words linger. A great amout of detail had been passed to the male, but there could have been so much more. Graz preened a feather, now sitting upon her shoulder as Letha simply studied Brechin to see his reaction. Would he figure out who it was in her dream? It might not have seemed all that bad a dream since the pack was evil, but to Letha, evil wasn't what she was. She was a killer, yes, but there was still a lingering sense of moral to her that was slowly being killed by the shadow.
