In scanning the replies to this, it seems that no one has mentioned the main reason that Jesus was offered to the Gentiles (too): the bulk and majority of the Jews rejected him:

Matthew 21:42  Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? 43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. 44 And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
45 And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them. 46 But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet.

It wasn't a "political movement", where he had to garner support, or a majority; he would have given himself as sacrifice even if there were only one human alive. That's the nature of a sacrificial lamb.

Acts 13:45  But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.

The Jews rejected Jesus, and they have regreted it ever since. Their jealousy and bitterness then is no different than today; Noachide today is a mirror image of the contradicting and blaspheming that started way back then.

Acts 13:46  Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

They did not manipulate the laws of grace in order to gain support or following; they had no need of this, as God did it for them:

Acts 2:47  Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

Today's Jews, limited to law only, have no concept of grace by faith. When they saw God's obvious anointing on Jesus, and that his followers were favored and blessed far above them, they became outraged and jealous, hardening their hearts forever to the only salvation they would ever have a chance at. Now, Satan has further used their bitterness to fulfill prophesy, and insure that the followers of his arch enemy, Jesus, will soon be executed en mass.

On a side note, when the beheadings do begin, then the world will see how very few are truly born again Christians, as the majority of today's so-called "christians" quickly tuck tail and run! (eagerly accept the mark of the beast to save their necks)

So, if it's a "popularity contest", as you make it out to be, being a true Christian won't be very popular at all in those days. No amount of "religious amenities" will attract followers then. The only thing that will attract some, is the fact that it is a perfect fulfillment of Scripture (which is why Scripture is under attack and being re-written to remove "certain" things; "New World Scripture").
