Subject: It's that time again....

You know that time every six months or so, when I ask you all to help me figure out what I should do with my life? Yes, it's arrived again.

So here's the deal. One more year of school, right? But the problem is, there's no classes for me to take this fall. Well, let me be more specific. No classes in my program. There were only two to begin with---one literature, and one writing (I guess they figured that covered them in the Literature and Writing program). But then the literature class got cancelled, and I took the writing class already. So no classes. I could technically take some folklore or some american studies. But the folklore classes are mostly fieldwork this semester, which would be useless for my program. And the american studies classes either overlap with the language class I need or are flat out uninteresting to me. So, no classes.

We're allowed to take one class outside of our program in a different department, and my advisor said I could take something in either history or theater, as it would relate to my thesis. Problem is, none of the history or theater classes that are offered this semester are of the type my advisor will approve. So still, no classes.

I'm really tempted just to quit. But then I get all worried--how does that look? Quitting with only 12 credits and a thesis to go. Why didn't she just finish, lazy student? And then I worry about opportunities or doors that may close because I quit. But then I think, if it's not a good thing for me, is it okay to quit? Because I don't think I want to teach college anymore. But of course, if I decide to in the future, I'd have to start over.

So, GAH!! I don't know what to do. I don't know what I'll do if I DO quit, but even if I finish, I don't know what I'll do after I graduate.

So, as usual, I turn to some of the smartest people I know. Any advice?
