...I didn't exactly phrase my point well. Yes, I did know what you meant. What I meant to say was, I don't necessarily agree with you.

To use your example, if I buy the Mona Lisa then it certainly is my perogative to paint a mustache on it. If I bought the Mona Lisa it would be my perogative to _burn_ it.

Anime creators sell their creativity for money. Sometimes they retain a say in the work (my understanding of why there is no Berserk 2nd season and/or His and Her 2nd season is their respective creators were not amused with the anime's take), but they don't have to. Case in point--The Big O and Akazukin Cha Cha, which had elements grafted in because of marketing forces.

...Just because someone _can_ make arbitrary changes doesn't mean it's a good idea, though. I won't argue that anime dub creators should not make arbitrary changes. But, in fact, if they decide to then it is their decision.

I am curious what you'd have to say about something like Robotech. How _does_ that fit in with artistic integrity? Is whatever-his-name-is who mixed the 3 shows into one a creator, or not? If he is, what connection does his work have to its source material?
