(c) .During the course of any works, if the Project Manager is of the opinion that
any of the Approved Specialist Roofing Applicator employed by the Contractor for this contract is "incompetent or negligent or fails to execute the Proprietary Roofing System in accordance with this clause, he may instruct the Contractor in writing to remove such Approved Specialist Roofing Applicator from the works. After receiving notice in writing of such removal, the Contractor shall for 也 :with remove the Approved Specialist Roofing Applicator and shall not 也 ereafter employ him a ε位 n on any works and shall wi 也 in 14 days submit 也 e name of 也 e replacement Specialist Roofing Applicator for the Project Manager's approval as laid down in sub-clause 6.4 above. 6.5Letters of Intent to be Submitted

Upon approval by 由 e Project Manager of 也 e Speci 祉 ist Rooii 且 g Applicator, 也 eCon 仕 actor shall wi 也 in 7 days submit to 也 eP 吋 ect Manager 也 e letters of intent 企 om the Approved Roofing Applicator, indica 世 ng 趾 s willingness to C 訂 ry out the proposed Proprietary Roofing System included in the contract.

6.6Workmanshio

(a) The Proprietary Roofing Systems shall be applied s 甘 ictly in accordance WI 也 the m 組 ufac 個 rer's specification and recommendations and in ac ∞ r 臼 nce WI 也 the details and sequence as approved by 也 e Project Manager. Particular care should be taken to ensure that all junctions, joint details such as skirtings, covering to kerbs, edges, etc. and all joints around pipes, rainwater outlets and the like are properly executed.

(b) The Con仕actor shall ensure 也at moisture will not be entrapped between
the existing roof structure and the Proprietary Roofmg System. All necess 位 y precautions shall also be taken by the Con 甘 actor to ensure the full integrity of 由 e Proprietary Roofing System.

6.7Detailed SDecification to be Submitted

(a) Upon approval by the Project Manager of the Specialist Roofing Applicator, 也 e Con 甘 actor shall wi 也 in 21 days submit to the Project Manager 也 e following information for approval:

Con 甘 actor from any of his obligations and liabilities under the contract.

6.8Demonstration on Site

Before commencing any worla 兮 , the Con 甘 actor shall demonstrate on Site 也 at the proposed Proprietary Roofing System, including all adhesives and waterproof roofing materials, 缸 e fully compatible and 也 is must be certified by the manufacturer in writing. Re-roofing work may only commence upon satisfactory demons 甘 ation and accepted as such by the Project Manager.

6.9Warranty

Upon ∞ mpletion of 組 y works involving the execution of any Approved Proprietary Roofing System, 也 e Contractor and the Approved Specialist Roofing Applicator executing such Approved Proprietary Roofing System shall submit the executed joint and several Certificate ofWarra 且可 for a period often (10)ye 位 SillS 仕 ict a ∞ or 臼 nce WI 也 the format at Appendix VI to the PS to the Employer. Such Certificate of Warr 組 .ty for 也 e Approved Proprietary Roofing System is required and any such works will not be considered as completed without having such Certificate of Warranty duly completed and submitted to 也 e Project Manager by 也 e Approved Specialist Roofing Applicator concerned.

6.10Removal of Existine Surface Finishes

(a) Where floor finishes 訂e to be removed, break up all floor finishes, and
cle 訂 away 企 om site. Clean subs 甘 ate, remove all deleterious materials and leave 也 e base and upstand surfaces clean, dry, and even, ready to receive new floor screed and/or floor tiling, all to the satisfaction of the Project Manager.

(b) The existing wall skirting shall be completely removed up to 30 伽 urn
(m 位 imum) measured 企 'Om concrete surface.

6.11 Protection Ae:ainst Overloadine: of Roof Structures & Inclement Weather

Before proceeding wi 也 the works, the Contractor is req 世 red to submit a method statement to the Project Manager for approval. The me 也 od statement must include de 個 ils of 也 e lifts and hoists to be provided, details of how the waste is to be removed 企 om site and the precautions 也 at will be 臼 ken to avoid the risk of overloading 也 e roofs 甘 uc' 個 reo

Ensure 也 at all necessary precautions are taken to prevent overloading of the roofs 甘 ucture. Materials should not be stored in isolated locations, particularly in respect of heavy materials such as concrete or 0 也 er cementitious tiles and pavrng.
The Con 甘 actor shall provide adequate protection to 也 e exposed substrate during wet andlor inclement weather to the entire satisfaction of the Project M 缸也 ger.

6.12Resurfacine: Work

a) Before commencing the application of any screed, take all levels and calculate the correct level for all critical points of 也 e new fmishes. All porn 臼 shall be marked wi 也 permanent markers to ensure consistency and accuracy 吐 rroughout the course of the works. Take particular care WI 也 existing levels and drainage gullies to ensure 也 e accurate matching of floor levels.

Ensure 也 at an even, s 仕 aight pa: 位 em with parallel lines is achieved for
tiled fInishes and 也 at all work join臼 meet neatly. Take all
measurements to ensure 也 at such 甘閏八 quare patterns can be ac 趾 eved, 但 ld refer all discrepancies to the Project Manager who shall issue an H 自甘 uction as appropriate.

Supply a record of all existing and proposed levels and present the same to the Project Manager for approval, and agree the 跨世 ing out at a formal meeting, to be convened at a time to be agreed wi 也 the Project Manager WI 也 a minimum of two days notice.

Failure of the Con 甘 actor to seek approval of the setting out may result in the Contractor being instructed to break out 也 e work and relay the floor 芷江 does not achieve the desired standard.

b) Lay screeding to falls (1:80) to dr 垣 n WI也 a nummum 也 iekness of
30mm 組 de 缸 ried up s 垣 rting 300mm high.

c) All wall/宜。 or intersections and internal/external angles shall be
reinforced with expanded stainless steel la 也 mg. A 50mm x 50mm cement sand angle fillet shall be provided to all external angles.

d) Adequate movement joints for the roof tiles, mosaic tiles and screeds on the roof shall be provided at positions approved by 也 e Project Manager for every 15m2 or as may be directed by 由 e Project Manager.

6.13Exnansion Joint

a) Rake out existing concealed expansion joints along roof p 訂apet w,祉 ,
external wall, and podium deck and to form a 25mm groove.

b) Form a 150mm x 25mm recess along the expansion joints to receive
waterproofing layer.

c) Lay a 25mm dia bond backer rod into the groove and filled wi 也
polyurethane seal 組 t ω form mega joint.

d) After sealant cure, apply one layer of “ Tha且 e coat W302" or approved
equivalent liql:rid applied waterproofing membr, 組 e reinforced with polyster mesh a 且 d allow to cure.

e) After cure of waterproofing membrane, lay a second bond backer into 也 e joint and apply second layer of “ Thane coat W302" or approved equivalent liquid applied waterproofing membrane reinforced with polyster mesh and allow to cure.

silicone sealant or approved equivalent.

g) Conduct intermittent water test to the expansion joint at p 缸apet walls
and podium decks by water jet for 20 minutes per hour during 9:00 am to 6:00pm at one working day.

h) The contractor shall make good all a 宜 ected finishes to match existing to
也 e satisfaction of the Employer.

i) Unless otherwise specified, install a 1.2mm thick stainless steel cover
WI 也 screw 200 rom cerr 甘 e to centre over 也 e expa 且 sion joints.

6.13Exoansion Joint Cover

1. Sample of expansion joint cover to be submitted to Surveyor prior to
ordering of material.

2. Expa 且 sion joint cover to be of stainless steel to BS 3019 of non-skid
pa 吐 em to be approved by Surveyor.

6.14Water Test for Roofs

On completion of the waterproofing works or each section 由 ereof and prior to the subsequent application of s 叮 face finishes, the Contractor shall inform the Project Manager for water test to be carried out to the roofs in accordance with the following procedures: -

a) Flat Roof

The Contractor shall temporarily block all outlets, cons 甘 ucting dams to compar 恤姐姐 lise 也 e test 訂 ea, and flood the roof 訂閱 WI 由 clean water and approved dyeing agent to a minimum depth of 50mm or to 也 e top edge of skirting or kerb all 臼 directed by 也 e Project Manager. The test shall be run for a period of not less 也組 48 hours, which may be extended at 也 e discretion of a period of not less 也組 48 hours. At the end of the period, the Con 仕 actor 旭 co 月 unction wi 也出 e Specialist Roofing Applicator shall make a careful inspection of the underside of roof for leaks. Where repairs are necessary the 訂閱 shall be drained and allowed to dry, the defects ree 叮 ied and the 訂閱 tested again for membrane integri 穹的也 e satisfaction of the Project Manager. The Contractor shall submit a detailed report after testing, carried out on the completed roofing to the Project Manager for record purposes.

c) Pitch Roof

The Contractor shall apply water to the pitch roof at a rate of 3.41/ 凶 n/m2 so as to completely cover the pitched roof.

The following pressure load should be applied: -

(i) Pre-wet the pitched roof surface for 1/2 hour at zero pressure.

(ii) Spray water onto the pitched roof surface at s 但 tic pressure at 1.20
kPa for 1/2 hour.

(iii) Zero press 叮 e for inspection.

d) Roof Void

The Contractor shall temporarily block all outlets, cons 甘 uc 世 ng dams to compartmentalise 也 e test 位 'ea, 組 d flood 也 e roof 訂閱 WI 也 clean water and approved dyeing agent ω a minimum. depth of 50mm or ω the 的 p edge of skirting or kerb all as directed by the Project Manager. The test shall be run for a period of not less 也組 48 hours, which may be extended at 也 e discretion of a period of not less 也 an 48 hours. At 由 e end of 也 e period, 也 e Contractor in coni unction wi 曲曲 e Speci 祉 ist
Roofing Applicator shall make a careful inspection of 也 e underside of roof for leaks. Where repairs are necessary 也 e 訂閱 shall be drained and allowed to dry, the defects rectified and the 訂 ea tested again for membrane integrity ω臼 satisfaction of the Project M 組 ager.

All temporary works necess 缸 Y to perform the above test or as may be directed by 也 e Proj ect Manager shall be carried out by 也 e Contractor at his own expense.

6.1.5Non-destructive Test

在 le Con 甘 actor shall employ an Approved Infra-red Scan 凶 ng Contractor as Specialist Contractor to c 位可 T out non-des 甘 uctive tests to establish waterproof
integrity of 由 e roofmg installation including any Proprie' 但可 Roofmg Systems executed by the Corr 甘 actor 組 dlor Approved Specialist Roofing Applicators. For flat roofs, the tests shall include sealing of all outlets and if necessary ∞ nstructing 也 ms to compartmentalise I 位 ge roofs. The roof shall be flooded for 24 hours. After floodi 時 , all outlet blockages and dams shall be removed to drain 由 e roof. At a period between 24 and 48 hours 企 om release of water, 組恤金 a-red scanning test shall be undertaken by the above Specialist Contractor to establish 正也 ere was pene 仕 ation 也 rough the roofing installation including any Proprietary Roofing Systems. For pitch roof, the Con 甘 actor shall apply water to the pitch roof at a rate of 3.41/min/m2 so as to completely cover the pitched roof. The pitch roof surface shall be pre-wetted for 1/2 hour at zero pressure and 也 en sprayed wi 也 water at static press 叮 e at 1.20 kPa for 1/2 ho 也 After the surface water dry out, an in 企 a-red scanning test shall be undertaken by 也 e above Specialist Con 甘 actor to establish if there was penetration 也 rough the roo 宜 ng installation including any Proprietary Roofing Systems.

The test resul 臼缸 e to be sent direct by the above Specialist Contractor to the Surveyor. The Con 仕 actor shall allow all co 位 s in connection wi 白白 IS provision for 由 e non-des 甘 uctive testing to be carried out by an Approval Infra-red Scanning Contractor.


h 也 e event of failure, the Contractor shall be required to carry out repairs at his own expenses and 由 e expense of all subsequent in 企 a-red scanning tests shall be borne by 也 e Con 甘 actor. In 企 a-red sc 缸 ming tes 的 shall be carried out until the roof is shown to be watertight.


For the Contractor's 旭 formation, 也 eIn 企 a-red Scanning Contractors currently known to the Surveyor are listed below. These con 仕 actors are subj ect to approval by the Surveyor. The Con 仕 actor shall not be entitled to 組 y additional costs for any variation in 也 is respect whatsoever.

7.1 Sheet Lead


The lead is to be new pig lead in accor, 也且 ce with B.S.1178 Code No.4 ∞ lour blue and milled to an even 也 ickness and te 泣凹 e, free 企 om cracks and defects.


The lease is to be weighted 19.30 Kg/m2 super.


No sheet lead is to laid 旭 longer lengths 也 an 2 meter.
