Introduction

Different types of office activity is the main factors to decide the best regional and spatial of offices. The head office of a company, the main function of an office(such as accounting, advertising, marketing ,international financial, manufacturing firms and business service firms), costs of transport and communication, rent and labour are the main factors that we have to consider.

Location theory
Location theory not only explains the pattern of land use, but by indicating a solution to the problem of what is the most rational use of land, it suggests ways in which the current pattern can be improved. Very rarely is an activity's location determined by a single locational requirement; a mixture of interacting influences usually explains each locational decision. A location may be selected only after an appraisal has been made of the advantages and disadvantages of alternative locations for the particular activity.

The aims of location theory is mainly explains the pattern of land use, to solve the problem of what is the most rational use of land by suggesting the best way to improve the current pattern. The selection of a location should be considered by the advantages and disadvantages of alternative locations for the particular activity by making an appraisal.

Production of goods and services in the economy involves the combination of factors of production by the most efficient means possible. Producers who are able to minimise production and distribution costs may gain an advantage over competitors which will enable them to extend their markets. Both production and distribution costs will to some degree be influenced by location, which will affect the cost of purchasing and combining inputs and the cost of supplying markets. Indeed, even at the wider level of regions themselves, one can talk of the general locational advantages an area possesses that make it attractive to producers-the cost and availability of land, buildings, energy, labour and capital, access to specialised business services, and good access to the transport network and wide markets.

The cost of purchasing and combining inputs and the cost of supplying markets can be effect by production and distribution costs, it is also the main factor should be consider by the producer since it can be influenced by location. Producers can gain benefit/advantage over competitors and extend their business and markets by decreasing the production and distribution costs.

Office Location and Development

In the United Kingdom, some offices are attached to the industries(factory) and some are independent.
However, unlike retailing, the location of office is more flexible and can be place in the above of the ground floor or lower floors of a building.(e.g. World
Trade Center, New York)

In some city, such as New York, many of the financial and marketing offices are located in a cluster in the same area so that the office-based activities can generate their own external economics of scale. In the United Kingdom , London was the dominant office location. Many organisations/companies prefer to locate their hand office to the capital city in order to be in close proximity to political contracts and national media.
