Terrified--and freezing cold--the man quickly spilled everything he knew to Bro'Grim...

Meanwhile...

Within minutes, the encampment was on full war footing. All of Eugene's common household troops not already on duty--about a reinforced batallion's worth--were assembling in ranks. Most of these were on foot, with about a quarter of them mounded on lizards. He also had six armed vertol transports, each capable of hauling up to thirty fully equipped troops, as well as a normal ordinance load. Finally, there was Eugene's ship, the Dakath--an aging but still-servicible light cruiser whish was a heirloom from his father.

The backbone of his force, however, were his 20 or so knights and men-at-arms--each equipped with his own suit of powered armor. About five of these were equipped with retractable wings and capable of sustained flight; the others had jump jets capable of short hops. Each was eguipped a long-range weapon--usually a laser, Gauss machine gun, or 6-shot misile launcher, as well as close-range weaponry--usually either a heavy ax or halberd, or a vibroblade sword and shield. They also had room for extra weapond slung over the shoulder--and in this case all were carring flamethrowers, as were many of the regular infantry...

Soon, these troops set out, the armor being kept in reserve in case these interlopers showed up again. As they reached the treeline, the flamethrowers wemt to work...and soon the team couls dee bright lights and smell the smoke coming form the opposite direction.

Meanwhile, the six vertols were being fitted with napalmm canisters, their pilots having received orders to bomb several areas suspected of harboring rebels. And one of them happened to be centered on Simon's house...
