The scene around them froze, then fades, as the memory ran it's course.
"Paige?" Shade walked over, hesitatingly plcing a hand on her shoulder...then he dropped down beside her and hugged her, saying nothing. He could remember being in a similar situation not that long ago, lookign on at the buried ruins of a little in in Austria...
Afer what seemed like a long time, he finally disentangled himself from her. He knew they were runnign out of time. "Paige?....Just wait right here--I'll be right back, I promise..."
Then he concentrated, bringing himself back into the real world, feling as if he was rising from an abyss...
And found himself choughing and gasping, thic, billowing smoke having already filled the cabin.
What the hell?...Where's everybody else?? Ignoring the stinging smoke, he headed for a windos--and saw the wall of fire rushing towards them,the heat already intense...
seconds later the vindow exploaded from the searing heat, on peach cuttign him across the chee, the cut dripping blood. But he iddn't notice any of it. he quickly grabbed is remaining weapons and gear out of the corner, Wrapped Paige up in his jacket and ran for the door, away from the flames. He called out telepathically to the others, trying to regain his bearings so he ould teleport to his Valkirie.
