"But P Yogananda changed the Kriya yoga of Lahiri Mahasaya so much that it is almost unrecognisable as being from Lahiri lineage."

Nik, Have you received Kriya from SRF and from a direct-from-Lahiri lineage, so that you can make such a statement, or is this just hearsay?

And does the question of 'does it work?' even arise in your mind? In other words, if 'Yogananda's' Kriya works, then maybe in its essence it really is no different from Lahiri's. Who knows, maybe it's an improvement (I'm just tweaking you here, but you get the idea- the proof is in the results, not in the theory and hearsay).

"So I think its a bit rich to criticise Davis Walters et al when your own guru is perceived by many to have injected a lot of his own drastic innovations."

I think so too! But then I think it's a bit rich for any Kriya Yogi to go around criticizing other Kriya lineages that they don't know anything about. Or that they haven't met any disciples who practice it, and therefore have no way of knowing whether it works or not.

Nik- why do you practice Kriya Yoga?
