Some of us jokingly call it "Misinformation site" because of some of its biased content.

Originally I liked that site, but the "balance" the author tries to apply looks a bit contrived, to say the least. I do not want to deal here with teachers that in my opinion have been portrayed in a better light than what they might really deserve, but mainly on his article on Shibendu Lahiri.

Despite the cautioning by some writers that the SRF kriya has been altered by Yogananda for American audience of the 1920’s, and has therefore lost some of its effectiveness, after extensive research including foreign travel, my conclusions are that the SRF first kriya is very pure to the original Lahiri Mahasay teaching. SRF members should feel confident and re-assured that they have the "real thing". Which they already know by their devoted practice.

Now this is a big stretch. How can a man who claims to be closely familiar to so many branches of Kriya make such a statement. Only three of the supposedly five original techniques are taught in today's SRF's First Kriya while at least one of the three remaining ones (the pranayama) has been modified in several ways. Apart from this there are also other alterations.

I do not object to what SRF is teaching now, but how can the author claim that this is very pure to Lahiri Mahasaya's original teachings while in his article on Shibendu Lahiri he wrote something like,

Shibendu does not teach the original Kriya. He teaches mental techniques. I cannot judge the effectiveness of these techniques.

This misinformation was part of his article and he let it stay there for several years.

Everyone who attends one of Shibendu's Kriya Yoga initiations is also taught a set of techniques that constitute his First Kriya. The detailed instruction course takes hours to complete, but this author said Shibendu "teaches mental techniques" and no Kriyas!

This sentence has been wiped out only recently and is now replaced by another sentence,

Mr. Shibendu teaches kriya techniques.

Oh, what a sudden change of mind!

This author probably never was present at any of Shibendu's Kriya initiations. Around the time the article first appeared on this website a malicious defamation campaign against Shibendu Lahiri was going on, mainly spread via the Internet. Shibendu the forger of Kriya, Shibendu the sexual molester, Shibendu the mentally insane, blah blah, all "witnessed" by his disciples. The perpetrators were partly dissatisfied former students of Shibendu, partly ill-informed people from other Kriya branches.

Asked about one of the passive supporters of this libel campaign, the author of the Kriyainfo site first claimed that he really did not know him, but a bit later admitted that he went to him with dinner. Great!

Although the author had been contacted regarding the allegations several times and provided with LOTS of information and had ample opportunity to research this issue more thoroughly (which would have been appropriate), he nevertheless didn't react but let this misleading article (which indirectly accused Shibendu to be a fake teacher with perhaps criminal inclinations) stay.

I take few things on blind faith, so I am always searching for the whole picture. That is one of the reasons for this site is to educate and stimulate thought for those individuals that want to know the whole picture.

Wonderfully done! My compliments.

Hendrik
