Not only did they do a good job with the imager effects, but they actually used them in the story in a way that made sense. Simon found wounds in the brain with it.

Simon was very impressive. True, he feels out of place on Serenity, particularly with Jayne constantly picking on him. Even Mal and Kaylee treat him more like a dandified adolescent than as as adult. It was good to see Simon in his own element. I hope we get to see more of that side of him.

Yes, I sort of skipped past the horseshoes in my 'quest for games.' The long journeys between planets would have to be filled somehow, or everyone would end up getting on each other's nerves. They seem to have a good variety of pasttimes; basketball (or at least hoop ball), cards, mah-jongg, horseshoes, etc.
