A half-hearted nod was all the motion that Tori could manage. At least the brute had been kind when her vulnerability was at its highest peak. Rebel or not, any show of kindness was welcome at this point. Watching his retreating form for a moment, she then swung her head around to continue prodding at the stubborn filly. She was a stranger in these lands, an outcast, and unwanted piece of war chattal that littered the landscape. She had no right to wish comfort to come from the beasts residing here. Bidding a silent farewell to Demonio, (heh, been there, done that) her dusky muzzle whuffled and nudged the milky filla.

Finally, after much poking and prodding, the creamy newborn rose on shaky legs, oversized knees threatening to knock together. Her puffy, black cottonball tail whipped back and forth furiously, her teacup muzzle tilted at a defiant angle as if to say, "There? Happy now?" Stumbling forward with as much dignity as a minutes-old filly can achieve, the moon-washed bella returned her mother's favor and nudged insistantly at her dam's belly, getting the idea of the whole feeding thing and drinking hungrily. A small sigh escaped Tori. This baby was a spitfire from the word 'go'. Hex and Elven had been such loving foals, always eager for their mother's affection. Perhaps the unfavorable circumstances which had led up to the filly's birth could be erased in time. Who knew?

As Genesis nursed, Tori looked around, emerald eyes landing on the charcoal stallion. As good as conversation and companionship appealed to her at the moment, she wouldn't force her company on any of the others. She had Gen, and that was a blessing in itself, whether or not the cream-colored flicka agreed.
