First of all, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica and Barbados all have their royal standards with a blue roundel in the centre containing an 'E' for Elizabeth surrounded by a garland of white roses. These flags are all based on the respective coats of arms. I have them all displayed on the Commonwealth History page, near the bottom under Royal Flags. Take a look.

I have drawn an updated version of this Empire flag as an FC flag. I kept the white ensign design with the red cross and the Union Flag and I put the red maple leaf of Canada in the top right, the Australian Commonwealth star in blue (as on the RAN ensign) in the bottom left and the stars of NZ all in red (as on the RNZN ensign) in the bottom right. It looks good, but the whole thing looks too much like a naval ensign rather than a national flag.

I would prefer something using red, white and blue with a red cross on a dark blue background with a white North Star in the top left and a white Southern Cross constellation in the bottom right, keeping it simple.
