I worked for Lynx and then for Callaway in their respective ordering and production departments. It's not a secret in the golf industry that what the pros play and what they endorse are two different things, the only thing in common being the brand name on their clubs. When I worked for Lynx Fred Couples had his own specially designed club-head molds that produced irons completely different than anything Lynx offered even though they carried the Lynx name on them. I also know that Phil Mickelson's irons have always been notorious for very strong loft angles, ground soles, upright lie angles, and other modifications that made his clubs much different than what his sponsors sold.

I've seen bags on tour where the irons are all sticking out at the same height and it doesn't surprise me since I know from reliable sources that Moe Norman and other pros played single length irons during their careers.
