Ken,

Regardless of what Jack Nicklaus states in his videos and books, it is impossible to use the same swing with every iron in a conventional set of irons. This is due to the different club-head lie angles between irons as well as the different club lengths.

A golfer's swing plane is determined solely by club length and club-head lie angle. You would never be able to make solid ball contact using a steep swing plane with a longer iron that has a flatter club-head lie angle. By the same token you would never be able to hit the ball cleanly using a flat swing plane with a shorter iron and upright club-head lie angle.

Our irons are designed to force you into the ideal swing plane and swing posture through the club-head lie angle that we use in conjunction with the properly fitted club length (based upon your W-T-F measurement). Do not concern yourself with the swing plane that your favorite pro uses, ie: the upright swing of Jack Nicklaus or the flat swing of Lee Trevino, as their equipment has been modified to accommodate them. What you should strive for is the efficient and powerful swing and swing plane that your body wants to produce, and this can only be accomplished through the use of the ideal club-head lie angle in combination with the properly fitted club length.

Mr. Lake,
You make an excellent point regarding swing planes and using these clubs. I also have to give you credit for being in this forum answering everyone's questions. I mean, if Titleist had a forum, d'you really think their CEO would be in it fielding questions? I have one last question for you though. My iron of choice is a 9 iron. I play off of a 17, but I can control my 9 more like a single digit handicapper. My WTF measurement is 34.5 (I'm 6'1", but I have arms like a baboon), can you tell me roughly how long the 1 iron clubs would be for me? Thank you again Mr. Lake, and I look forward to ordering my set.

Ken,

Based upon your W-T-F measurement your irons would be approximately the same club length as a conventional "off the rack" #9 iron (depending on the brand).
